stephen_fergus2 Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 Just a warning to all L.V. policy holders .... Today I have NEVER been so mistreated in all my life by a company .. Received a phone call this morning asking what exact mods I have on the car . Told them the following : ALL Subaru approved + fitted by dealer .. PPP , Prodrive Sping Kit , Prodrive Strutbrace , J+R Panel filter , STi8 scoop + painted side sills ( latter wasnt important was told ) The UNDERWRITERS wanted to know because they said their computer was messed up . I had in the past ,back in May , asked about a Quickshift and upgrading to 18" wheels ( 2 weeks ago) but was told both times " If u go ahead with these mods we will cancel your policy . " Okay, bit unfair but okay , I thought . Was told today computer had me down as having upgraded wheels and thus was the reason for the phone call. When I gave them the above information , and hung up , I remembered I had forgotten to tell them about the J+R panel filter which I had fitted . Unfortuneately , I had to speak to another girl , who went into my records to see who it was that was dealing with this matter .. only to be told , someone had put a note yesterday that they were unhappy with the mods I had and they were going to give me 7 days notice !! Now , my gripe is this , EVERY mod I have done I have phoned up and asked 1st if it's okay to go ahead , and each time thay have said yes ..no problem . Also .. Im sure many people here will agree ..They're not exactly the most wild modifacations are they ?? SO WHY WONT THEY COVER MY CAR NOW ??? Have explained this but just get told " The UNDERWRITERS arent willing to cover your car anymore " . They also said that , back in May , I was told not to modify the car anymore .. THAT IS CORRECT .. BUT , about 6/7 weeks ago I removed a Forge DV and Afterburner BB on the car ( WHICH I HAD TOLD THEM ABOUT AND THEY HAD APPROVED AND HAD THERE FORE FITTED BEFORE MAY ) . NOW THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE ... Removing the Afterburner + DV and going back to standard IS MODIFYING THE F***ING CAR !! HOW STUPID IS THAT !! All this hastle .. £980 a year .. full 5 yrs NCD .. over 30 .. I dont need this .. I apologise if this is a bit of a ramble , but my brain is tired , I'm fed up and going to have a serious rethink about keeping the car . BTW I've phoned round EVERY insurance co. and the cheapest is £1390 ... NO WAY am I going to pay that .. Steve PS My cousin phoned to get a quote on my car ( as if he was buying it ) .. Didn't even get as far as a quote .. was told " I'm sorry , we don't have a 5 door Impreza on our system .. only 4 !! After explaining the situation he was told .." Yes , we've had 6 or 7 Subaru owners today dissappointed " ... WHAT IS GOING ON ?!?

Have been with them for the past 6 - 7 years and i have had a 94 wrx, uk300 and now have jdm sti. best to go on website first for quote and then give them a bell. Also if you can then put named driver on policy too. i put the old man on mine and dropped it by about £80. www.belldirect.co.uk best of luck

For my last renewal in August I had a quote of £1,300 from Kwik-Fit, at which I'm afraid I laughed at the guy on the blower. Through a a broker I got fully comp (with a big excess) for £470 with my NCD life-protected. Bit of a difference. K.

The insurance investigator will look at Everything on the list of MODS. and search accordingly. Meaning. More hassle. for you! I.E. When you tell them to replace your K+N filter. After a HEAD ON! Who F****NG cares. Inspecter only checks a standard motor Only the Mods if you tell'em. You really think that downpipe?Upipe are gonna get wasted in a smash! Sure you,ll have time to whip them of and replace them if you're worried. Tell them F'all AND don't crash! If your worried about car getting stolen.(Why D'ya buy this car!. And why's it not secure?). I was insured by L+V. And you are right Depending on who you spoke to you were either insured or not. The fact you have the bit of paper's in your favour. SG72 Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 Forgot to say. Some of the other companies will seriously ream you, for any speeding offences. Admiral more than doubled my premium. An extra £945! L+V don't. Well that's what the last call taker told me.

Have phoned EVERY, and I mean EVERY , insurance co .. cheapest is Privilege ..... £1350 ! Interesting tho .. to do a comparison , phoned round some co.s for a quote on an STi .. cheapest ... £ 1050 ! .. Explain that one ! Also , while doing this , I phoned up L.V. to see if they would quote me on this STi . At first they did , £50 more , but then after checking with supervisor , they phoned me back saying " THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO INSURE ME WITH ANY VEHICLE ! " .. Now I want to know .. What have I done to deserve this ? Have I trashed a car or 2 or claimed lots of times ? No ... NOT ONCE ! Have I got any points on my license ? No . Have I a criminal record ? No . billyboy Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 guys, insurance is a nightmare.i recently bought a terzo which if you look at glasses guide it says grp 17.but no some in surance companys say 18.iwas gettin silly quotes of 1200 and im 42 full bonus,clean licence cat 1 etc.i went into confused.com.£730 WITH £25 cash back with norwich union direct,who i might add wanted 960 when i gat a quote on line.fast car lets rip em off ching ching.
evojkp Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 I'm with LV and don't have to tell them about mods. Only two stipulations. Any mods fitted must have a receipt and proof of fitting (photo) so that on a loss of the car they can adjust the payout accordinly. The other is that they do not allow stroker kits or re-bores. I called then on three times to confirm the above was true prior to going with them about 8 weeks ago.

dougie549 Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 Hi Steve OOh dear you really aint having a good time at the mom are you He He He I also went to Liverpool Victoria and must admit that they couldn't have been any nicer with us regarding a quote for our P1. They were well under £900 this year for insurance( Last year was £1100 not with LV) and that was with all the mod's declared on it (which is quite a few). The only issue was i had to send a copy of the mod's to them via recorded delivery so they had a full copy. All i can say i hope you do get it insured quickly then M8 Cheers Dougie

Or maybe change it to Gordon_my_car_will_always_be_cleaner_than_Dougies_Shek. You'll get good insurance quotes no probs!
