WRX IOM Posted August 18, 2004 Author Posted August 18, 2004 You should know by now Hutchy!!! You going blind again! CustomScoobyIom, Is there anything i need in prep for the remap? e.g...boost guage, knock link etc??? as i dont have any fitted at the moment. Just let me know when your ready to pop over and i will meet you with your beer money at hand. Oh, and happy birthday to Heazille.
dooahhdoo Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 << What motor you got? >> White STi2. The in-laws live up there so am there quite a bit, not always in the scoob though
Dave K Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Wez, am sure a boost gauge will be required for mapping. Unless Jon has one he uses for setups. Best to get one though so you can tell what is going on with the car. And as for Knocklink big yes most people say this is the first thing you should do on an import before mods, so with what you have its a must. Jon will prob have det cans for the map, but is a safety for you afterwards, lets you know any sign's of trouble.
Cret Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Knocklink is WELL worth fitting for peace of mind and easy to plumb in too. I could hear mine before when it was really knocking (red light level & engine making a horrible crackly noise!), but with the knocklink fitted I can see when it's only starting to with a flash of the bottom green light, and prevent it from getting full-on until I get the cause sorted out. Think of which you'd rather potentially have - the cost of a knocklink or the cost of a new engine/rebuild & the time off the road.....
CustomScoobyIOM Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Ideally knocklink IS a good idea mate and a boosty, but I will have detcans to check for det as well as a highly accurate boost gauge. Also a wideband lambda too
WRX IOM Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 Bugger!!! Out comes the credit card again! If you could sort the map out with your gadgets Jon and i will sort the Knock link and guage out shortly afterwards to save my engine going bang. Got her back from the Classic car restoration last night and i can say how inpressed i am with the work. What a difference a few bits of paint can make!! Looks a lot smoother and in my oppinion the spoiler looks a lot nicer and different to what most other people have on the rear of theres. Old spoiler is for sale if anyone needs one? Sti4 shape with clear brake light. Also have two 18" rims just sitting in the attic still in the box. Anyone?
CustomScoobyIOM Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Sounds gorgeous mate! No worries on that, will do!
