Club/ Forum Changes Suggestions Etc

Recommended Posts

Couldnt find the thread to add to it. Theres been chat of what can b3 done for the club and its survival attracting new members. Getting members to renew their membership fee etc.

Personaly my own opinion and i dont know what it was like when it first started other than storys of there being very few scoobs between citys back in the day .

But in my own opinion . Regardless of whos in charge or on the comittee i think the club needs to get back to basics.

1 - Geting regular meets planned and held. Having a group shot or pics of those nights that folk meet up .and making sure its bang on regualr monthly thing. Dont have to be a regional organiser etc to do it . Jut someone needs to sort it get it written down/ posted up and keep bumpin the post every couple of weeks as a reminder and also inviting people on facebook aswel as posting there. Me and andy arent organiser just regular members and chatted at cpl events and said wed try organising meets seeing as nothing was happening. starting in about october last year . The oct, nov, dec /xmas meet in edinburgh was just me and him.. didnt bother us that we were the only 2 to turn up we had a good munch and blether hawes inn was about halfway for us both me from dalkeith andy in dunfermline.

We could have just said stuff it after that and not bothered tryin to arranging things then thatd be it. But we thought to try to get more folk wed move the area closer to glasgow folk so set the last cpl through in livingston and there was a boost in numbers. I think 12 at the first one then last week again in livi we had about 10 folk again.. both times have been with the idea of meetin up wi folk. Havin some grub and chattin away in person rather than through facebook or forum and i speak for myself its been a good evenin and good chat .

2 - having a planned run now and again.. doesnt have to be every few weeks could be every 4 -6 weeks .. we all bought the cars to drive them now sit them on a club stand and polish them. Well most of us did anyway. So if anyone has good ideas or knows good road for a run. Chuck it up at the weekend or sumthing for a sat afternoon say you know the road. Put a meetin place. And how many miles roughly itd be. Even if its just 2 of you gettin out its always good. Dont have to drive like a looney or drive like miss daisy (chris) but be sensible and mindful the other person may not know the road aswel as you. So when its clear and visible push it. When u cnat see or traffic take it easy.

3. Something making membership getting something for your cash.. what i dunno . Not everyone does track days and not everyone wNts to support a club that doesnt seem to be doing much and not everyone is life membership. Tax disk holder will be void. The legal cover in my veiw isnt exqctly legal cover unless ur at a show/ event and theres now many shows or events happening.

4. Getting back in toucch with suppliers and garages north and south of the border see about discounts for membership etc. Maybe even things you can order online and get delvired where youd get discount on s

also get advertisers in and let them advertise on forum via banners for possible discounts in their garage ? Or get it back as a source of income /funds for the club?

5- look at our competitor clubs. See what they do that works and what we can do differently .

6 - comunicating with memembers . Seems alot of frustration at members not knowing whats going on. Maybe a monthly update or post just saying whats happening. Whats been happening and whos been doing what . Wee list uodating on events etc.

most of all i think personaly its getting the small things like meets and runs going again and thinking about shows. Places we can attened to get so front to show the club off and its equipment . Rather than the same events year in year out. Venture out people know what events are going on in their rough areas and shows . Could be something new 5o venture into

I was toying with the idea of starting organising meets down this way off my own back. Label it as a SIDC meet until/unless something goes wrong and the wrong type of person shows up.

As quoted though, personally, its important to get people to see the point in paying £20 for membership. Speaking to their wallets is the best way to do that. Get in with larger companies that can offer small discounts nationwide. Breakdown cover, even if its only a small percentage, its a start. When people see its not dead, they'll return....

Also can we add a spellchecker to the forum? I don't want another Scoobynet where every post is in textspeak -_-
