davey l wrx
Anything that's non standard... PPP was a UK option but that should also be declared to be on the safe side. Personally I've got everything from the turbo, injectors and exhaust to the carbon scoop and Wing stiffi's declared. It depends on the insurance company as well some don't seem too worried about different alloys some do.... Always best to check though Link to comment
lollybazil
so if you dont declare your green panel filter could this potentially void your claim? for example Link to comment
davey l wrx
Potentially, anything that's non standard and the insurance co haven't been informed they can say your policy is invalid. That would be harsh for a filter but whenever I've fitted one I've always told them.... Better safe than sorry Link to comment
lewisscoob
Yeah, totally agree with dave on this. Declare all and you wont have any problems in the event you need to use the policy youve paid the premium for. Link to comment
lollybazil
thanks for all response , cheers Link to comment
spect
As above but some things like plugs, oil and air filters are normally exempt as they are classed in the consumables section - just like your oil and fuel!! Ask your insurance company. Link to comment
ccrien
Agree with advice above, often wondered if painted calipers would be enough to void the policy, under the clause of "anything that changes the appearance" of the vehicle? But here's another little story: Not so easy to talk to insurance company when their call centre is based in India or the like! I declared non std alloys ages ago for 20 or so quid a year extra on the policy BUT the alloys aren't covered because they're non standard even though I am paying extra, and they'd be cheaper to replace than new originals. But when I called a little while ago to see about a (considerably cheaper than a genuine subaru) stainless exhaust, the policy was going to cost 30 quid or so extra, a"modified exhaust" wouldn't itself be covered but took me at least 5 mins explaining that it was just an enquiry, I didn't have a "modified " exhaust fitted yet, so please don't charge me for it. How on earth am I going to ask for clarification on other details? Mudflaps? Makes me think maybe trying a specialist insurer next time? Link to comment
MarkJHarris
I had fun telling my company I was putting on the spoilers and wing and badges from he Standard STi as my Spec D was debadged. as original. No extra charge..... Link to comment
scouk
yep everything should be declared even if you put and SIDC sticker on there! it should in theory be declared.. Not everythign will result in increase in policy cost most insurance companies will put them in to categories.. e.g. suspension / exhauist / wheels / bodywork... So you sometimes get a flat rate increase for these but can give you scope for much modification once each door is opened.. Note still attempt to declare the details! If they dont want the details that's their choice. However I have seen companies now including wee boxes for details of each mods in each category. shame for subaru's the box's often arent big enough Link to comment
