Guest
When i was growing up in my childrens home for naughty boys, I was given a model 22B with wrc decals on it. It was a proper model and until recently i still had it. This first got me interested in Subaru Imprezas and i waited and waited until finally i could afford to get one. I was 26 and it was a black 54 WRX with gold wheels. I owned it for 4 months until it shat itself at 130. After trying a golf GTI for 8 weeks i got bored and bought a 53 plate STI Then an RB320. sti and
I always liked the distinct burble that comes from the Subaru. Watched the rallying and used to see them on the country back roads overtaking everything with ease and decided one day it would be nice to own one. Finally when insurance was actually possible for less than the price of a house I purchased my first one. Had it for just over a year and so far loved every minute of it. Cant see me replacing it in the near future, great car. Link to comment
paul555sti
I bought i sixteen foot long canadian canoe when blitzed on ebay one night. At the time i owned a mini cooper though so needed a bigger car So i bought a wagon I then sold that and bought the 555 from Gus ( when i got it ) ( currently ) The 555 has been tucked away for a few years and i ended up buying a blob ( when i got it ) ( how it is now ) They have only met the once but i'm about to start building a double man cave for them. mctwistuk
I have owned three scoobs over the years. Have always liked the wrc and followed Colin McRae and Richard burns. Guy at my old work bought an rb5 and that made me take the plunge and buy an 03 plate silver wrx. I fettled wiith it a bit then sold it and bought a civic type r(the last of the good models lol). As soon as I sold the scoob I regretted it and ended up buying a 56 plate silver Sti. Fettled with it and Andy mapped it and I lovrd being back behind the wheel of a scoob. Ended up selling that due to getting married and having to pay for a wedding as well as it needing quite a bit if money spent on the chocolate struts etc. I bought a silver 04 plate Sti last year after 2 years away from scoobs as I missed them too much and with only needing a weekend car a scoob fitted the bill nicely. I don't plan on selling this one as my wife and I both enjoy track days and the scoob is perfect for it. Even when I didn't have a scoob I was still passionate about the brand. Granted I didn't really post much on here but the brand was still strong in my heart. There is just something about the flat four burble. To be honest my second scoob was probably my perfect scoob and I regret selling it so much. Scooby 1 Scooby 2 Scooby 3 Edited August 3, 2013 by mctwistuk Link to comment
ScoobieFloz
After customising a couple of Ford Fiesta's I wanted to step up the BHP with 4 wheel drive. After looking at a couple of Cosworths my mate found a Classic Import WRX. I have always loved the barble from the Scoobies so took it out for a test and was sold instantly. Unfortunately being a young hooligan I got 12 points within 5 months so the beast had to go. Once all the points had cleared I couldn't wait to get back in an Impreza. There seemed to be lots on the market so was looking for something a little different. Some say the colour is wrong but that’s exactly why I chose it! I have had my WR1 for nearly 3 years now, it’s my daily runner, ultimately reliable and still a lot of fun. Link to comment
bombsquad
Was going to buy one years ago but was too busy running 2 or 3 bikes, and usually a couple of cars at the same time. Insurance kinda put the blocks on it really. Due to the pish weather for the last three years, I cleared out my last bike recently (Fireblade), and needed something on four wheels with balls to fill the void. After a Ducati, the Boxer is the best sounding engine on the road. I wasn't intending buying one but glad I did. Link to comment
baldobaz
Ive always lusted after the impreza, mainly due to following rallying and colin mcrae, that and the burble. Ive had various lesser cars, but ive always been into performance brands, nova gte, cavalier gsi, focus st170 but i always wanted an impreza. 3yrs ago i had a tuned vw bora tdi, tjis was the same year we had the heavy snow, i couldnt go anywhere in it, totally pissed of with it i promised myself my next car would be an impreza. Once i had some money i started looking, they were all blue with gold wheels, the iconic colours, that was until i stumbled on a red blobeye wrx with a few sti bits and that was me, i had to have it. Nearly 2yrs later and im just as happy now as the day i drove it back from hull. Link to comment
Riggers sti
First fell in love with scoobys in a performance car sales place called "evolution" was looking for an evil7 in silver , there was a white 7 and a silver 6 but stuck in the corner was a wr blue hawk Sti , well no one puts baby in the corner so I asked for a test drive instantly fell in love with her burble and accepted her flaws ( under steer ) so I took her home Decided I wasn't going to modify her much just sort out the handling/under steer Then I got hungry for power so had a forged build , fancy fmic/rad combo and an sc46 billet. She was now awesome and I loved her , she was now 484bhp and had 504lb ft @ 4k revs But after 5 months of fun she decided she wanted a break after thinking long and hard I decided I'd lavished enough money on her and wanted a divorce ( so I broke her for parts ) Got everything sold within a month and had a friend tell me of a special Scooby that was for sale , so went through to have a look with a knowledgable friend and was told to "bite his hand off" so after a bit negotiating I drove home in this I think this ones a keeper and I hear wedding bells in the near future Link to comment

johnnyr6
I bought my first scoob after a bit of researching. I had just got rid of a series 2 rs turbo and was thinking about a cosworth. I wanted an escort cossie but they were very expensive and i realised i couldn't use it as an everyday car and most i looked at had at least 1 engine rebuild and a few had pretty bad rust issues. A mate had a uk classic scoob and i knew that could be used every day as well as a toyota supra turbo. So i started looking for either. I had a guy from an old company JVS (japanese vehicle sourcing) in edinburgh looking out for one in japan. The supras were more expensive so for the money i could get a better condition scoob. The one he had already brought in came up for sale on here. So i bought it. The car... I had this car for around 8 years. In all that time including track days, crail days and runs it never let me down. Things broke, sure, but it never stopped running. The best break i remember was on the way to Playsatans i was driving it really hard down my local back road and started hearing a squeal. So i booted it to see if it went away which it didn't (not the recommended procedure). On arrival at Playsatan's i opened the bonnet to see one of the timing belt idlers poking through the cambelt cover. The wee beast still ran all the way there at full boost with a snapped idler bolt. After that car went i was looking at either a newage, evo7 or 8 or a type r. After looking at a few i ended up with this... I got this in N.I. for a very good price. It looks like the owner who had it before the boy i bought it from looked after it. Then the boy i bought it from ran it into the ground. So it's a good car underneath and i'll get it into a good car all round. Everytime i look at it my jobs just seem to increase but it will get there. (Unless i sell it for a 911). Johnny. kaylz_555
My first car was a peugeot 105, Then I had a gold Rover 25, I bought my first scooby when I was 19. Just a sport because of the insurance - can remember the insurance being £1250!! At the same time Gordon had his sport. When I first bought it (on the left) Gordons is on the right: After a few months I changed the graphics: :We sold them both and bought our first WRX: Then bought an R (which used to slide round roundabouts - was never right since I had it so got rid of it after 5 months): Then we bought an RB5 which needed a bit too much work done to have any point in restoring it: Then bought an Audi Q7 4.2 v8 petrol, which I've just sold after being in love with it for a year as the gearbox went so got a wee C3 till March when the new RR Sports are available, decided to give one of them a go. Just bought a GT-R Black Edition, which after owning for only a month has cemented itself into our lives, can't imagine ever selling it! : Got no scoobs now, but I'm only 25, so plenty time! I'm after a white blob Link to comment
jamesm
Having lusted after a Cossie in my early teens, a certain Mr McRae changed all that in 1995. From then, there was only one car I wanted. Passed my test in 1996 at 17 but didn't get my first car until I graduated in 2001 when I bought a nearly new 1.6 Astra SXI. 100k miles later the Astra reached the end of its useful life in 2006. By then, insurance was just affordable and I bought my 2002 Impreza WRX. 4 Years old at the time but with less than 15k on the clock. Had it ever since. Even early on, I discovered it was too thirsty for the daily commute and in 2007 I bought a 1996 Pug 106 Diesel with only 19k on the clock for £900 which took the commuting off the Impreza. Traded that for a 2004 Corolla 1.6 with just 11k on the clock 2009. Almost 7 year later the Impreza has only done 60k miles. I hope eventually to get a Subaru as my daily runner and I have no plans to get rid of the Impreza. Still regret not buying an STI so you never know. The WRX has always gone very well for a near standard car and I am never quite sure if it really is as standard as I think. Pic taken by Mr Hatrick on this years Fling. DR Motosport
Always enjoyed rallying especially when I was a teenager and the Group B cars were at their best. In 1990 I bought an Astra GTE 16v and decided to do a bit of road rallying, so joined the Coltness Car Club, where a certain Colin and Alistair McRae regularly turned up for meetings in Hamilton. My first run in a Subaru was Colin taking me out in his company car, a black LHD Legacy RS, which went on to becomes Alistairs when Colin got an SVX. God that car was rough by the time those 2 had finished with it. Come 1997, I had motorbikes, a mint condition classic TR7, couple of Audi's including a quattro, and a different GTE 16v track car. I worked out if I flogged the lot I could buy a brand new car. Initially wanted an Audi coupe S2, but decided on an Impreza Turbo. So basically have owned Subaru's for 16 years now. 1997 UK Impreza Turbo, 2002 JDM Impreza STi have been the 2 main cars, 1992 Legacy Turbo, 1994 Impreza Turbo, 1994 Impreza WRX ra, 1995 Impreza WRX, have all been fun track cars. Would I buy another, as a road car probably not, unless it was something very rare or unique. 22B or Spec C Ra, Link to comment
