mctwistuk Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I would just like to say thanks to scott(scoobywho) and gordon(g1983) for fitting my nice shiny new brake discs today. Front these To these Car feels a lot better under braking. Only downside is that we found a second crack in the wheel that has a.ready been repaired. It looks like I will have to purchase a new set of wheels now as two cracks in the one wheel isn't good. Thanks again guys. Chris
The Don Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Looks as if you didn't change the pads??? If not, won't be long before they look like the originals..........
g1983 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Looking great Chris Car now pulls and stops like a train
scoobywho Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Pads are fine, and wouldnt age the discs 9 years lol 1
StrikE Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Looks as if you didn't change the pads??? If not, won't be long before they look like the originals.......... With Don on this one. I would fit new pads to old discs [at a push] but not new discs to old pads
mctwistuk Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 Pads only done couple of thousand miles. With having to buy new set of alloys now I will just need to leave as is I am afraid. It is only a weekend toy. 1
The Don Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Pads only done couple of thousand miles. With having to buy new set of alloys now I will just need to leave as is I am afraid. It is only a weekend toy. It's not the mileage they've done, they look as if they are only making 50% contact with the disc. Once the wear pattern has commenced, difficult to get back to full contact.
mctwistuk Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 The discs had a coating on them which might be what you guys are referring to. Will see how they get on. Thanks for the info though. Chris 1
scoobywho Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 They are fine, when chris took the pic the car had only done under a mile, I generally always change discs and pads together but if money is tight and the pads are ok and not badly or unevenly worn then I would go with it depending hpw desperate the discs were. These days the pads seem to be more damaging to the discs so a new set would clean up what the old pad left if changed soon 1
