thebigfelly
Realy need some help the wifes gone crazy and started talking gibberish. uttering rubbish about getting rid of the scoob sooner rather than later some point this year. saying some rubbish about getting a more economical cheaper to run car . something.cheaper on insurance, cheaper on road tax , cheaper on parts and cheaper on petrol. told her that shes talking crazy . she said ive always wanted to do the fling and then afterwards start thinking of saying goodbye. tried convincing her that id get peanuts for the motor now, that id put it off road for so many months of the year so no running costs. that we could get a classic so itd be cheaper and more affoardable, that we could get a newer diesel. but nope. she likes the scoob just not the costs of it. i dont see myself driving anything else as good or enjoyable as it. and would love to put it off the road under a tarpolin and get a wee £100 scrappy thing for A to B work comute knowing its there. but shes adimant that its going soon . whats my optiona folks ? divorce isnt one of them by the way ? maybe a few helpful hints and talks from people while were on the fling next week would convince her? id like to think strength in numbers and shed be out numbered 24+ scooby lovers to 1 of her.. and NO another option isnt a wee accident happen to her while on.the fling when im not with her........ pmsl nah but seriously options folks? help? suggestions? or good chats with her on the fling to convince her to change her mind? g1983
Sorry to hear that Paul. I have had a few interesting car choices over the years but think i tested my wife last year the most. 5 cars, yes 5. But in of the fortunate position that in her opinion, if that's what my hobby is then so be it. I don't drink, smoke or go to football etc do its my only vice. As you know i now own a classic, at £23 a month insurance for being under 30 is great and helps, maybe ask to sell the micra and invest in a economical family car. Like a volvo s40 edrive or similar (my uncle just got one) £30 a year tax 1.6 diesel. In my opinion no car drives like an Impreza, no matter model, fact. my wife will be coming to the fling, hopefully this works itself out. I DONT want to have yo buy your car off you Link to comment
g1983
Infact she just shouted over and reminded me she chose all 3 of my subarus and that's why she likes them, and i don't have a blob/hawk sti with a huge wing, so she said Link to comment
lewisscoob
Luckily my missus hates my car sufficiently that she wants nothing to with it. I've no idea what to suggest but can say don't look for a classic to be cheaper to run. Unless you're lookin to shift the blob and get a sensible car plus classic? That's maybe an idea? Are we allowed to boo her on the fling? Link to comment
mctwistuk
Defo not good idea selling. Get her to next joint meet and gill will beat sense into her. You have best of both worlds. Cheap to run micro and a toy. Chris Link to comment
g1983
I agree, classic is heavier on the fuel than my sti hatch Link to comment
paul555sti
I bought a cheap run around and garaged the 555 a few years back thinking I'd save money. Its been there ever since and I've now got a blob as well! Where did it all go wrong Link to comment
cullenmin
Man Up and tell the good lady that you wont be selling the scooby. Look for other ways to save money as the car is more than just a car, its a hobby Rich Link to comment

thebigfelly
scooby is my daily driver all be it 5miles to work and back on 30mph-40mph roads , only spend about £130 a month petrol which is good sensible driving compared to when i got through £60 a week when i had a heavier foot . even tho its my daily driver its my hobby too, i dont hit town with lads anymore realy apart from Birthday nights out and dont realy drink anymore apart from social gatherings if im not driving or a pals bday night out , quit playing poker . but she doesnt get it or see it other than as an expense to have . and any more that just a car ,where as an enthusiast and love my cars its more than that too me, the way it looks, it handles, it feels to drive, how i feel siting in it ,driving places, the looks i get from people , the waves from kids standing with their parents, parents pointing it out to their kids and waving as i drive and waving back. she doesnt get that at all . g1983
Just remind her that you'd take a much greater financial hit by swapping the car than the extra annual costs to run it, so it stays! Else she'll feel the full force of the law? Long arm of the law? Or perhaps NOT the long arm? of the law :smiley-taunt014: :smiley-taunt014: :smiley-taunt014: :smiley-taunt014: Link to comment

arch
Tell her it could be much much worse if you decided to use the car for sprints and hills so in fact the expenditure you have is more than reasonable. Also ask her for your trousers back Edited April 21, 2013 by Arch Link to comment

scooby222
explain to her that replacing it would mean selling it and putting three years running costs in cash as well - show her some prices of what yours is worth now.... Also remind her of your wedding cake and pics and how selling it would be like losing part of that special day..... and then check if your allowed your kahunas back for the fling Link to comment

mctwistuk
Trade in a micra for a kuga or a jeep and you are getting hassle about running costs lol! Think there is a hidden agenda here as it looks like her running costs will be more than yours and that can't happen lol. Edited April 21, 2013 by mctwistuk Link to comment
