Moray And Aberdeen (Mad) Scoobies

Ok this is just to let everyone know whats being looked into for this year for the MAD Scoobies folks.

There will be the usual drive outs and car shows to attend (Keith and Buckie, maybe more) we're hoping to have some of the club equipment up here, gazebo, flags, etc.

I am also in talks with a Detailers in Aberdeen that is looking to expand into retail so we can turn up in a nice group and have a detailing demo. There should be some wings/bonnets about for folks to have a go on the polishing machine if they aren't confident enough to attack their pride and joy. They will also have offers on for us with some reduced rates on some nice detailing kit. They will be selling stuff from Zymol, poorboys, Dodo Juice, Auto finesse, Meguars and others. They also do ally wheel refurbs, interior trimming and other stuff.

I'm also looking to see if we can get a stand/parking area at some local motorsport events - hillclimbs/Sprints. Could be a good day out and get to see someone else thrashing their cars.

Obviously we're always open to suggestions if anyone has any ideas of things to do or contacts that can help us out with something please let us know.

I've done an interweb search and came up with nothing for aberdeen. I'll try the AECC site later and see what they've got listed. I've looked all over the area and there's not much to be honest. Hopefully the Yank Tank club will update their site for this year and we can use that as a guide.

I still haven't heard back from the Motorsport Club who organise the day at Boyndie i might have to try again and send the message straight to the man at the top.....

There used to be a big car show at the AECC called Golden Wheels which we attended as a club a few times, but the organiser was a guy from 20th century classics who retired and the event didn't run again after that.

There's no club parking at Alford for the Sprint round that is held there, as the whole paddock area is filled with competitor cars. In fact you are often lucky to get parked within 1/2 of the circuit if its a sunny day :D No reason why everyone can't meet up inside the arena though. Same for the Fintray hillclimb, but at least the public parking is big enough to allow car clubs to park together if they want.

Best option would be to join forces with another car club such as the Capri or mini clubs, since the Public Liability Insurance requirements would limit us from holding our own events there due to the prohibitive costs.

Cheers for that john. I wasn't looking to run an event just turn up as a club to watch to round and maybe have a stand. That would be a start then maybe look at something else in the future. I was looking at Boyndie as it's open enough to give us room to set up a stand. I've emailed 2 memebrs of the committee and haven't heard anything back yet so it's a bit of a waiting game at the minute.
