CHICT Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Hi guys sorry for short notice but Racing Legends:-Colin Mcrae is on BBC 2 @10 o'clock tonight.
bertious Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 an outstanding look into a true legend! R.I.P to him and his son - Never forgot!!!
neill54 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Great program only one gripe was that really l555 bat he was driving at the end? Looked different colour roof scoop etc! RIP Colin Neil
jamesm Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 An absolutely excellent programme, best hours viewing in a while. The accident report section was very much needed to give the balance between his genius in a rally car and ultimatly what happened is the helicopter. Well done to the BBC for the way the handled it and for not just skirting round the issue. Made for uncomfortable listening but it is a reality for every McRae fan. Hoy was clearly a true fan and presented very well. He was no a bad driver either. If I am being critical, mocking up a L555 BAT look a like was unneccesary as they could have just used a similar Impreza and made no secret of it. Also, some small errors in the footage like showing Chartiot in the 1991 Manx.

I think it may have been N555 BAT that was used, its in private hands now but was originally a Prodrive car that Liatti used in '96 Did enjoy the program though and Chris Hoy looked pretty good behind the wheel, unless Jimmy did a few takes
thebigfelly Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 just watched it, was very good , well presented,h and they handled the death part prety good aswel .. yes the guy was reckless with what happened if the accident reports are correct, and may have tainted his image for some people , but the guy was a fantastic driver and champion and saw some stuff and learned some stuff about him that i had never knew or seen before . was a good insight .!
paul555sti Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Yeah it was N555BAT that was used. The owner has replied to a thread on scoobynet and added a link to his flicker account with some pictures from the filming.
dabiscuit Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Do you think ken block uses any excuse to advertise monster energy drinks and dc shoes. I think he's a brilliant driver. Just his reputation didn't seem to fit the tone of the programme
paul555sti Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I don't think he is brilliant. The hundreds of skids marks in most shots show lots of practice. How's his wrc record? I'm sure there are plenty of drivers who could do what he does.
dabiscuit Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 His wrc record is pants. He's more show than go. Good documentary. Just watched it. Emotional in places and hoy is a tasty driver!
mctwistuk Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Great documentary. Was good to see some of the old sidc crew make an appearance.
