highlandflyer
Has anyone come across this ecu code as my engine management light was on then went off after 10 miles. Car seems normal but got Bitz Motorsport in Nairn to check for code. p2012 is a vvt issue seemingly but they've cleared it and suggest I drive it and see. seen this before? 2005 wrx ppp, no mods! I reckon it all got a bit hotter than usual on the Fling and threw a wobbly, certainly did the Godspeed brakes the world of good (no comment please Dave). anyone?. cheers Link to comment
scouk
Have to admit, my brakes feel much better after the fling! Must be because the cars's sitting around too much these days and givign a good run out has done it the world of good! P2012 Intake Manifold Runner Control Bank 2 Circuit Low I'm not really sure what that refers to Edited May 4, 2012 by ScoUK Link to comment

P2012 Intake Manifold Runner Control Bank 2 Circuit Low I'm not really sure what that refers to seemingly p2012 is about tumbler generator valves either sticking or duff sensor. tgv's are part of emission controls!!! don't know if there is any problem long term but just clearing the code seems to be general advise. can you recommend a cheap but decent code reader that can also clear codes. cheers Al. Phil MC
I think you can do a TGV delete mod. So if it turns out that you've got an expensive replacement part to buy for this fault, it might be worthwhile looking at the delete option? I'm sure someone with more experience in this will be along to advise soon . Link to comment
scouk
Ahhhh ok. that makes a bit more sense.. As above.. I have heard about the tumble generator valves throwing up codes every so often if they even slightly malfunction.. SO at present probably nothign to worry about. Think mine flagged that one up (or somethign similar) couple years ago Cheapest way to read and clear codes is using a ODB-II > USB cable and a laptop. (probably about £15 IIRC Correction less than £5! according to my post below ) This will let you read Subaru specific codes and not jsut OBD ones. Other option is a stand alone OBD code reader whcih I've seen for between £50 and £100.. I also ahve a scangauge-II fitted to my car(s) which aside from other things lets you read and clear codes.. Foudn this handy for the first time when heading to inverness on saturday when the CEL came on due to a misfire.. Was able to check and clear the codes which driving! If your interested in teh cheap option lemme know and I'll dig out details on what cable works (See my post below, foudn an old thread I started on the subject) Edited May 5, 2012 by ScoUK Link to comment
scooby222
hmm, wondered about the scangauge myself, think euans got one too - do they still make them? maybe a group buy opportunity.... noticed a big improvement in the s3's brakes too during and after the fling, think the pads got a good clean up lol Link to comment
scouk
Yeah ScanGuage-II still very much on the go.. Got mine off eBay from somewhere in Europe IIRC Not necessarily the cheapest device on the market but handy tool to have with plenty functionality without cluttering the dashboard! http://www.scangauge.com/ http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=scangauge-ii I got a pack with extra cable so I can quickly swap it between teh Ka and Scoob Not a great photo but also got a mount to tuck it up above the rear view mirror on the scoob For the ka it's jsut stuck on to the dash with velcro Edited May 5, 2012 by ScoUK Link to comment
scouk
Just found the previous thread where I was on about the OBD-II USB Cables for much cheapness: Link to comment
highlandflyer
OK Al, for the technically challenged among us ie me EXACTLY which cable will work with a laptop to read and clear codes. Where do I get the laptop software from? And where's the plug in?? Also assume that reading and clearing codes is fairly foolproof so I cant mess things up even more and be in my "wish I'd never started this" syndrome, though I bet most of us have been there. highlandflyer
Just thinking, you could talk me through this tech stuff when you and Davey organise the first MAD run! Link to comment
scouk
Heh! no problem.. One of the cables I have (think I've got 3 at the moment) that work is this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-USB-KKL-ECU-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-409-1-OBD2-II-LEAD-VW-AUDI-SEAT-SKODA-/300675663951?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4601aa884f Plugs into the standard OBD-II port under the dashboard on teh impreza.. there is a socket just next to the steering column roughtly where your right knee would be.. Software. The only thign you'll really need is ECU Explorer. Which is all you need for reading and clearing codes. Fairly easy to use and no, you can't do any damage with this Download For ECU Explorer: http://code.google.com/p/ecuexplorer/downloads/list Edited May 5, 2012 by ScoUK Link to comment
