Engine Surge

Last few days, the WRX has, on coming to a halt, the engine has surged to about 1,500 rpm, setteled to normal and surged again. Any suggestions please?

So it doesn't hold a steady idle? I.e. it's hunting up and down the rev range?

Could be the idle control valve.... But that would usually throw up an engine warning light and code!

Yeah ICV was what I was thinking...

Thanks guys. No warning light. However, WRX going into main dealer for geometry adjustment (potholes) and to cure auto headlamp levelling system problem (which does have a warning light glowing). Will ask them to plug in diagnostics kit in an attempt to solve engine surge when warm on tickover.

My blob has been throwing up an engine light - scan guage is on that car so it can read the faults and reset them. Keeps saying the code for the idle control valve. When i get a chance i'll take it off and clean it apparently that usually cures it.
