Brakes what to do?

With the fling coming up and my brakes feeling less than great i'm thinking about what changes i could make.

At the moment it has a full set of Godspeed grooved discs and Kevlar pads fitted. The car stops ok (most of the time) there's not alot of feel through the brake pedal and distict lack of bite!

The options i've got are..

Change the pads - Performance friction, mintex, tarox, EBC, pagid

Change the pads and fit braided hoses all round - as above

Change the discs, pads and fit braided hoses - only fitted the Godspeed kit in Jan so not sure

Brake conversion that would fit under 17s- (was looking the the Porsche kit thats on the Type 20-25 but it would mean new 18'' wheels as well and make my 17'' winter wheels and tyres surplus to requirements).

I will change something but at the moment i'm stumped to be honest. There are so many options out there.

I definately think braided hoses are going on but as for what else i'm not sure. Performance friction, mintex, EBC, tarox, pagid... the list of pads is huge.

So the question is what have you guys got and whats any good. Scoobynet say godspeed are great (i did them in a good deal from there) and i know Ian does loads of pads and was thinking about giving him a call and seeing what he said as i've never had a problem with his stuff before.

I've done loads of searching the web and it just confused me even more.... :brickwall:

Dave get front PF discs & pads and change the rear pads to PF.

I changed mine last year for the fling and they are still going strong, It's costly but you can stand on the brakes all day long with no fade....... no really no fade

I wont buy another make now!

And Mr Fleming, what made you go for that combo, despite your overwhelming desire to spend £000s on APs? :smiley-taunt014:

Davey, I run the same set up as Del, when I first plumped for them I was sceptical, but for braking and even more so repeated braking they are amazing. I also have HKS braided hoses on mine, and obviously dot5 fluid. On our summer runs we 'press on' and while others are on fire, or have lost their pedal, the PFs are just quietly 'tinging' away as they cool down :)

Do it and never look back :driving:

Cheers guys i feel an order going in tomorrow so i can get them fitted and bedded in before the fling. Scoobyparts seem to have them in at a half decent price!

I can see an expensive week coming up as the blob is already in getting a new clutch fitted.

if you want to keep the 17's i think k sport do an option that would fit under them, otherwise PF discs and pads all the way - ask Andy about the godspeeds he had on the badger for the fling last year, he'd had godspeed stuff before and was sure it couldnt be it that was the problem, a switch to PF soon convinced him and he binned the godspeed stuff even though it had only been on a few months.

having tried Dels hatch with them they are exceptionally good - not quite as good as my AP's now theyre running right but less than half the cost of a new AP kit

I'm thinking PF pads all round, front discs and some braided hoses and a fluid change will do it. If that doesn't work it'll be a full set up..... later in the year when i have job!

My KSport were under 17" rims originally. I did the 330mm disc. It was effing close all round so I now have 18" rims.

but under the 18s there is much more room

Phone call made just waiting to hear back from them when they check the stock at Performance Friction..... This won't be cheap but don't suppose you can put a price on being able to stop with confidence

I'm running the fronts with Godspeed two piece 335mm grooved discs/big Brembo 4 pot calipers/Ferodo DS2500s and at the rear, DBA 74320 discs/standard calipers/EBC red stuff ceramic pads. Goodrich braided hoses. Works for me - huge improvement compared with OEM kit!

Bits are ordered and on the way from Scoobyparts i should have them on Wednesday with any luck then fitted by the end of the week. Should be enough time to get them bedded in before the fling.... hopefully!

Thats braided hoses, PF pads all rouns and PF discs up front.

Well can't fault the service so far.... The receipt arrived today along with the hoses and the Discs and pads should be here tomorrow.

The braided hoses amd fluid change will tighten things up nicely.

PF is a great option.
