paul555sti Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Fitted the summer wheels and needed to bed in the new brakes ready for the fling! Left my house and went through to Alloa for fuel and to check the tyre pressures. From there it was Bridge of Allan, Doune, Callender, Loch Lubnaig, Strathayre, Loch Earnhead, Comrie, Braco, Auchterarder, Glen Devon, Home! A couple of shots from Loch Lubnaig Stopped off at the St Fillans end off Loch Earn for a drink and something to eat. I came quietly round the corner to some funny looks from three coppers Managed a sneaky shot of them Then stopped in a Castle Hill reservior on the way down through glen devon. All in it was a good run and a good shakedown for the car before the fling
davey l wrx Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Nice clean car, could need to get some new pads on mine before the fling as the godspeed ones fitted in January don't seem to be great... Could be an excuse to go down the braided hose route at the same time. Just got to decide what to fit now.
paul555sti Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 I got standard brembo discs and brembo sport pads, braided hoses and fluid all from Alyn at AS performance. I was taking it easier today than i would have normally but i already feel that the brakes feel sharper than what was on the car when i bought it.
davey l wrx Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Both of mine are using Godspeed grooved discs and fast road pads but for some reason the hawk doesn't feel as good as the blobeye wrx. Might try some different pads and braided hoses and get the fluid changed while its in.... They aren't bad i'd just prefer more bite!
spenno Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Some nice pics there Paul. Looks like a good run out. Car is looking good, loving your summer wheels

Godspeed grooved and their fast road/kevlar pad on the fronts on mine. Just changed the pads for the mintex 1144 from AS performance. Yes, seem much better. Edited March 28, 2012 by marko72
davey l wrx Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Cheers marko i am looking at them and Performance Friction!
marko72 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Cheers marko i am looking at them and Performance Friction! PF were mentioned to me before but im sure they are sti only. Thought about Ferodo 2500 but 1144s best value for me. Ive got the HEL braided lines too.
davey l wrx Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I've got a Blob WRX and JDM STI. Perks of a redundancy payment. Braided lines are on the to do list the garage i use are Hel agents so it shouldn't be an issue.
spect Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I have just upgraded from standard WRX brakes with HEL braided hoses to K Sport 8 pots with their hoses and pads, seems a reasonable upgrade to me. When I had the HELs fitted i was told that they may not pass the MOT as their is a fitment/clip not on them that is on oem hoses. It did pass but might be worth checking before you fit them. Great set of pictures - I like that!
davey l wrx Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Cheers for the tip..... i put the cra into the same place for the MOT so it should be ok!
badbaz Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Looking great Paul - very clean in both sense of the word. Mine is back on the road from Sunday - so I guess it will snow next week!
lewisscoob Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Cracking photos there Paul and the car looks spotless!
