thebigfelly Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Morning campers Gona give the car a good going over on my next day off.tardis and polish clay bar etc etc but noticed the ninja 2 back box is looking awfully sorry for itself bit dull and what looks pike cpl rust spots. So just wondering whats best to use to get it nice and sparkly. Previous cars had chrome exhausts and i have chrome cleaner for the back box. Applied it waited for it to dry in and dull up then buffed until shiney and clean. Cheers paul
davey l wrx Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I use Autoglym metal polish on my cars. Takes some time to get it looking good but it's worth it...
scooby222 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 ive tended to use wonder wheels or similar with a really aggressive brush to clean it up and get rid of the rust spots then autosol or similar metal polish to buff it up, raceglaze metal polish is really good and if you can be bothered take it off and have a go at it with a machine polisher
rig-pig Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 i did mine when the wife had some m8's round, i went into my man cave back box that i have in the garage, cleaned with bilberry wheel cleaner 1st, then onto tardis tar remover, followed by metal cleaner more tardis and the rotary polisher this was it to start with just onto the 2nd go with metal cleaner and more tardis and how it looked once i had finished with the rotary polisher and some old pads by the time i was done the last of the mrs m8's were just away good few Hrs spent in man cave
scouk Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 back box that i have in the garage, cleaned with bilberry wheel cleaner 1st, then onto tardis tar remover, followed by metal cleaner more tardis and the rotary polisher That's more or less what I did with mine the last time I had the backbox off. Basic wash. All-Purpose cleaner with detailing brush Tardis with detailing brush Claybar Meguiars NXT metal polish (personal preference) Then gave it a coat of FK1000p Hi-temp wax for a laugh.. Seemes to have done the trick of helping reduce the amount of crap that sticks to it! Shame about the gravel rash on the underside of it..
thebigfelly Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Going by the size of ur wellys to the right in the first pic what did that back box come off...... An earth moving dumper truck???? Either that or you have realy small feet going by the ratio of welly to back box hahaha. Nah thanks for the tips folks. Dont have a polisher wish i did have one and the balls too use it. Never thouht of using wonder wheels or tardis on it. Will see how i get on
euan_r Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 ive tried loads of metal polishes. autoglym was reasonable, meguires doesnt shift that much but leaves best shine, raceglace has good cut but can be beaten on shine. I now use the britmax twins. Ones good for cutting through heavy stuff and other is polish/sealant. I wont be changing as sealant does work and it doesnt get so tarnished between polishes. If its heavily tarnished use some 0000 grade wire wool with polish after quick wash.
spect Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I start with Cillit Bang! then normal wash, then more Cillit then normal wash and metal polish.
