lewisscoob Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 And the level of oxygen dropping doesn't affect the octane booster?
StrikE Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Right how would i know the booster is off? I bought a box last year, it says on the bottle use within 12 months. If I go to a shop [halfrauds] and buy a few bottles or order them online [opie oils, camskill etc] who is to say the booster hasn't been sitting on their shelf's for 6-12 months anyway? They must buy the product in bulk to supply their customers! There must be some definitive way of finding out what is safe?. Not trying to be a cheep git but who is to say the bottles i have are any better or worse than the bottles in the shops? Without a definite expiry date stamped on the bottle how the hell can you tell? Annoying See my point caller?
scouk Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Would be interested to know if anyone had a definative answer to this.. I did some googlign the other day on it and couldn't find a direct answer. Just the usual well if it says use within 12 months blah blah.. But as Del says it coudl quite easily be sitting on a warehouse shelf for 12 months.. For it to be acurate it should be marked with a manufactur date or something.. Although I think teh bottles I have, are maybe past it.. Just came across them and the labels are all peeling and distorted and the bag they were in has kinda melted through on the bottom. Guessing it's maybe about time I disposed of them..

The companies making the octane boosters will take into account that there will be a delay in the production date to sale. We sell a lot of things like that, so from us you should get longer than 12 months. We buy boxes of various Millers octane boosters every week or two, so it should be pretty 'fresh' when we get it. What sort of deal are you looking for on the octane boosters? The best I can do is by sending a whole box/boxes to someone and they then divide it up between everyone else. If we send each bottle out individually, the postage doesn't make it cheap. Cheers Tim
StrikE Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Tim many thanks for the reply, i am sure a deal can be reached. I just received this from Millers directly: Hello Derek The petrol power one shot uses an additive that does not go off and also the bottles are heat sealed when filled. As long as the bottles are still sealed then you will be ok. Petrol does go off and that is why we recommend that any vehicle that might be laid up for any period that the fuel is drained out of the tank. You have not said whether you use this car everyday or not. If you do use the car everyday then I would recommend either putting a bottle in every third or fourth tank fill. Or when you have used the bottles up that you have go onto our 500ml bottle which with a measured does you will get 10 tank fills. Regards Nigel Sounds ok to me!

Badgerboy Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 As I said elsewhere, you need one for the tank you fill in Skye - except Andy, who will need one CRATE! Sad but very true
ANDYJDMSTI Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 £133!!!! Now that is what I call inflation at an outrageous rate.
scooby222 Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 after looking into this i think its safer for everyone to find their own, seems to be a big difference in price and spec so rather than any one person lay out a load of cash its every man for themselves!
