MOT de-cat failures

Have just read, with horror, that 2012 MOT regs state, amongst many other changes, that "A catalytic convertor fitted as original equipment but missing will be a reason for failure." Hope all of you have kept your original cats. Oh, by the way, apparently it's the dreaded EU who are behind this. What next?

if its fitted then they can't fail it unless its not up to standards after sitting in yer shed for 11 months.

just have to take for a blast before hand ....oh damn that means going a bit faster...

before as long as the car passed the emissions test with or without cat now it must have one

If it didn't pass the emission test before without it fitted yet still managed to pass then there is no difference
