Advice on back struts

Recommended Posts

I defo think my back struts are away just with the noise comin from the back when going over a bumpy road, the advice im asking is will this afect the car if i dont get them soted for the ringtrip? , as im little short of cash at the moment and might not get fixed on time ,so will it be ok and still go on the ring or will it be too risky?

Cheers John

its sounds like the struts Baz , it sounds quite loud when it happens, thats good if it will be ok for the ring , im going to try get the set of coilovers when i get some money together.

If it is the struts, they can be removed and regreased for a short term fix but because of the design the knock will return. Google it, it's well known - best to get it checked to be sure.

Quick general question?

How obvious is this knocking sound that ive heard about? Do you hear it all the time or only at certain times?

Sometimes had a slight noise from left rear a year ago, wasnt very obvious and only heard it at very low speed over a gravel, rough road. Had it chkd and everything was ok. Since had rear droplinks and bar fitted. Everything ok.

Just wondering thanks.

I knew mine went on my WRX when i bumbed down of a kerb, pretty obvious noise, so give that a try, Or you will know by the way the car seems to "float" a bit going round long bends so i personally wouldnt go near any track never mind the Ring, just my opinion.

Try spraying some white grease directly onto the shocker itself. Drinas RB320 makes the noises described and the shockers work fine so a quick fix that needs done say once a month is just greasing them by jacking up, pulling the shock cover back and spraying some grease on.

Mine has been making the knocking noise when going over bumps for about a year. I tried the temp fix by spraying white grease but it sounded worse after. Is there any way I can check if the drop links are possibly the cause? Maybe movement in them when jacked up? Sorry im bit of a novice.

Better checking the ARB links when the car is in the normal position - on a four poster ramp for example

With the BHP you are running NGK PFR7B and 0.7mm gap

Genuine NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs

(Heat 8) set of 4

The above is what ive bought are these no good at all or will they be ok in the car?
