Hi.

What are the differences/improvements with the 55 plate blob sti's from the earlier blob models?

I understand there were positive changes. A mate is asking.

Thanks.

Having just bought one i should know but i dont

I know its got the centre controled diff DCCD that i dont think the earlier models had but wait for Barry or Dave to come along and they will explain :)

Pauls right, 05 model blob was the first to get dccd apart from the wr1, widened rear track which required the little blisters on the rear wheel arches, thicker drive shafts giving the 114 pcd, uprated spec c suspension and avcs (variable valve timing) heads also a different type of diff but i cant remember what off the top of my head

My 2003 has DCCD so possibly nothing changed there.

Thought your was a spec c mate? ( an import )

The 2005 sti and wr1 were the first uk cars to get this i think.

No Auto on the 'cheap imports' :P

The suspension is lighter, the interior is better (from memory lol)

The car just benefited from loads of improvements and is far more 'focused' than the earlier blobs.

Agree ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

No auto, only manual, which gets rather interesting in the wet

off tbe top of my head

DCCD

Helical diff rather than the suretrack diff on the older cars

Wider track

Thicker driveshafts

Stronger hubs

wider wheels with 114 pcd

some uprated oily bits such as crank

yaw sensors linked into dccd

updated interior

quicker steering rack

better suspension (that still knocks)

And a few other things I cant remember

If the 55 is anything like the 07, the DCCD makes the thing suck camels a$$

I nearly lost it at deaconsbank roundabout yesterday, fishtaled left then right trying to correct it.

It looked cool, but the 53 blob would have never done that
