Badgerboy Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 RMS Exhausts at Prestwick. Anyone used them? If so what did you make of them, quality good or bad? Andy
G4VPO Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 By what i hear you are better using either Eilte in Prestwick, or Meercat in Glengarnock.
Alastair Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I used them for my gto twin turbo, never had any problems but that was ten years ago now
fai17 Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 By what i hear you are better using either Eilte in Prestwick, or Meercat in Glengarnock. I use meercat everytime mate.
Big Gordon Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 They did the exhausts on my Trans Am, very happy with it.
badbaz Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I've heard they are cowboys, I know a Scoob that had a resonator fitted in the centre pipe and it was hitting the prop, diff, diff carrier and rear bumper - what a bloody state - avoid!!!!!
GazTurboUK Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Andy there is Simons custom exhaust in East Kilbride, only ever heard great reviews regarding his work
arch Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 As peter says if your down that direction it makesno sense not to use meercat. The unit doesnt look that fancy but the quality of the work speaks for itself.
14N-FR Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I had Elite in Ayr make up some pipework for me for a custom intake. Good guy, decent prices, cant fault him. If I were you though, I would buy an off the shelf exhaust.
phil1967 Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 wouldn't touch them, i've seen his work and it looked like a 3year olds dot to dot. not pretty.c&c costom exhausts in hillington do a good job,
arch Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 wouldn't touch them, i've seen his work and it looked like a 3year olds dot to dot. not pretty.c&c costom exhausts in hillington do a good job, But are expensive! There is no way C+C would have spent 2 days making my rotated turbo set up to exactly the spec and position I wanted and charged me what meercat did, or would have spent a day fabricating and fitting my rotated FMIC pipework. Meercat charged the same to do my FMIC pipework as C+C did to adjust a centre exhaust section.
boab type ra Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 my m8 put an r32 kit on his golf and got them to put twin exhausts on it. i took the scoob and we went into ayr for something to eat and on return caught the guy tuching up the paint work where he took a chunk out the bumper then on the way home he my m8 foned and said he could hear a rattle so i pulled behind and the exhaust was hanging down on 1 side, pulled over and the guy had held the exhaust up way cable ties. foned the guy and he didn`t think the exhaust would get that hot to melt the plastic cable tie you have been warned.
14N-FR Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 The guy at Elite in Ayr previously worked at C&C in Hillington.
tomwrx08 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 johnny at elite is superb, ive had some work done by him before and wouldnt go anywhere else now
hi_jac Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Top quality work and price from Willy at Meercat. Custom zost on my scoob 2 years ago and still going strong.
joe will Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 way but costom shelf stuff is way better. if you want costom go to an engineer.
Badgerboy Posted April 10, 2011 Author Posted April 10, 2011 Thanks for the replies folks...........should really have asked before I was "stuck" with using them. Will post pix later in week when I take the "modified" exhaust off before flinging it in the skip! Yes, it is that bad!
scooby222 Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 holy crap, did they ruin your gorgeous asbo exhaust Andy? hope not, that would be gutting
G.Mac Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Another vote for Wully at Meercat, he has worked on My Scoob for a few different jobs, My ZX10R My Van My brothers RIB Repaired a couple of cracks that were in one of the wheels on my brothers RS4 and soon will be doing the downpipes on his RS4 to get rid of the 4 cats!!! (2 in each downpipe ) there was only once I had a niggle with something that was done there and he stopped everything he was doing to put it right free of charge. As far as I am aware all his stuff comes with a lifetime guarentee Graeme
Badgerboy Posted April 12, 2011 Author Posted April 12, 2011 All I can say is what a total Fcuking mess RMS made of fitting a resonator box! Thanx guys!!!! Catching on Prop and Carrier Catching on Diff Carrier Due to the balls up of the above, they felt the need to weld a bracket on and wedge the back box into position! After cutting and welding the hangers for no aparent reason! This was a £600 Hayward & Scott system they butchered! All I wanted was a silencer box in the mid section to prevent me getting an ASBO. NOT HAPPY
GazTurboUK Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Thats a bloody joke, think my 5yr old nephew could have done better!!
gbsti Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I take it the exhaust will now be put thru the Badbaz experience !! Lol
