mystery machine
Can anyone recommend a quality 100% synthetic oil for my Hawkeye STI? Main dealer used Castrol Magnatec at the last service. It meets A3/B3 A3/B4 spec but I'd like to use something better this time. Cheers Edited March 22, 2011 by Mystery Machine Link to comment

MarkJHarris
My handbook says 5W-30 API SM or SL, SJ at a push. 5W would slightly improve economy over 10W and better for winters but if you get a long hot summer a 10W-40 or 10W-50 would be better for the engine. I always swear by Mobil 1. Morris do good oils as well. No expert though, just have my handbook next to me . Edited March 20, 2011 by MarkJHarris Link to comment
phil r
titan fully synthetic from the the oilman {opie oils} used to be called silkolene pro s one of the best if not the best for excellent oil pressure this has been proved on proved as a angine builer and tuner down have tried all differant ones and this oil came out on top they dont use any thing else and have been using that for years now its the only oil I use and have done for a long time as well especially as the scoob does rely on good oil pressure for the back cylinders especially number 4 cheers phil Link to comment
mystery machine
Thanks for the replies folks. Think I'll go for a 10W/40 this time. Garage have recommended "Millers" or "ProLong". I've heard the former mentioned on these forums... the latter is a new one to me. Link to comment

StanS
I used Motul Comp 300V 15W50 in my classic for 7 years, running 430BHP which was driven hard (once it was warmed up!). Same in Hatch, but not yet driven hard. Excellent oil. Also used/use their diff and g/box oil. Link to comment
