billyboy Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 The Scooby went on its way on Monday night.I was sad to see it go but im not sad to see the back of the running costs.Thats four of them ive had from my standard P reg silver turbo,Terzo,Blob-eye STi saloon and finally my STi hatch. Been on a a few runs, done some shows and a few Santa Cruises and met some nice people and some cocks but thats life. What now???? Well: 2010 MINI John Cooper Works.Laser blue with white roof and mirror caps and black leather interior. Laugh if you like but its great fun and doesn't have the heavy road tax etc. In memory of Subaru ownership i have transferred my plate and scooby doo now lives on the back shelf of the MINI. Be carefull out there! Billy
frank c Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Sad to hear it's not another Subaru sitting outside the house Billy but i can understand why bud.. Glad to hear you've replaced it with something to get the grin factor back though..
G.Mac Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 And you could still stick it on a track day and have some fun!
bobbyc Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Another one bites the dust, sorry to see you've got rid of it Billy but in the present climate I think there will be a lot more over the next few months, take care mate & enjoy the mini
gus the bus Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 A Cooper S Works is great fun . Had a wee shot of one when my Brother-in-Law worked for BMW, I was struggling to give him the keys back Enjoy Billy
Big Gordon Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 As i told you the other day mate, Mini looks awesome, it's a wee weapon. I've bought another car too, so will be advertising the Scoob shortly. Flaming country is forcing us off the roads..
gus the bus Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Flaming country is forcing us off the roads.. Aye you aint kidding G
st3ph3n Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Welcome to the darkside Billy. It's not as fun, but a hell of a lot cheaper. Although your Cooper S will be more entertaining than my oil burner.
paul555sti Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 All the best with the new car! I know exactly how you feel, my classic is off the road and I am enjoying having the extra cash from not paying tax / mot / insurance / and lastly the fuel. I don't see it going back on the road anytime soon. I did toy with punting it but unfortunately it's worth more in bits than whole and I am to lazy to break it!
Joe G Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) Flaming country is forcing us off the roads.. Yep thats the way it seems to be going. Got my scoob advertised at the moment!! Really not wanting to sell it but can't justify it as an everyday car and have nowhere to store it. If i dont get my asking price i will be looking for a lock up and it will be getting stored away!! Always said to myself that when the petrol prices hit £1.40 on the island that i would take the scoob off the road or sell it. And with the state of the roads its just knocking the sh1t out of the suspension, bushes droplinks etc!! Not good!! Edited February 18, 2011 by Joe G
JasonW Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Very nice new car, whats the spec on a JCW mini these days anyway?
billyboy Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 Very nice new car, whats the spec on a JCW mini these days anyway? 211 bhp 0-60 in about 6secs and top speed 148 mph.
wilky Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 He said cocks!! lol. Sorry to see you leave subaru ownership Billy, you were one of the first people I met many moons ago when I started this nonsense. I wish you luck and Im sure you will enjoy the mini! Callum
thewelsho Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Enjoyment of a non-Subaru, in terms of driving, is just not possible with a regular car. There are other benefits though; cheaper running costs, but that's about it, at least IMHO. Bought a 59 plate Civic Type S GT as a replacement for the Scooby and I haven't put a sponge near it in three months. There is litter in it, the back seats are always down cause my golf gear is in and out. Plus the boot is covered in grass and crap. I couldn't care less about it, I might as well buy a cheap runaround. Driving will never be the same again. I'm contemplating a CR-V diesel, AWD. Miss the Scooby
sti pretender Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Enjoy the new car Billy. John, the Mini's no slouch and for a thrill he's got the RS.

Gorbash12346 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 As i told you the other day mate, Mini looks awesome, it's a wee weapon. I've bought another car too, so will be advertising the Scoob shortly. Flaming country is forcing us off the roads.. No kidding. i took mine off the road in december to avoid the winter roads.. driving theA70 from carnwath to balerno every day for work it would have been ruined. bought an old ford ka for £400 (YUK!!!!) to run back and forth and glad i did one week into driving the ka and i put it down a pothole... domed strut tower, mashed top mount collapsed damper snapped spring and drop link and burst one of the lower arm bushes as well as denting the steel wheel and cutting th tyre open.. thats on 65 profile tyres. all fixed for less than £100 if that had been my impreza i'd have been off to see the bank manager to fix that. still running the ka now as the roads still haven't been fixed. not even tar shoved in the holes plus the small matter of £435 to re-tax it and a grand to insure it means i'll need to hit bonus and do some serious overtime to get it back on the road as for petrol pffft time to leave the country lol

Remember to write to whoever's 'responsible' for the A70 about that. Fecking shambles, this country...
G.Mac Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Billy, I know you are now starting to distance yourself from the whole Subau thing after all the disappointments from the last couple of cars. I am sure you will have a hoot with the mini though!!! Get yer butt along to one of the track days and give a couple of the scoobies a good fright Again, all the best Billy, you have my number. Dont be a stranger and give us a shout for a pint sometime All the best Graeme
Gumball Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Ill get the WD40 for the revolving door Billy !! Youll be back mate ! Take it easy
