badbaz Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Anyone on here? The guys on scoobynet gave the clip a hard time cause of the driving but some even had the cheeky to slate the road! ( dukes pass ) The RS flames are a bit Not hitting many apex were they? Focus seemed to be a bit arsy, maybe he was playing with it? Classic was well out of shape over that hump near the end. 5 out of 10
Gumball Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) 4:38 !! The scoob nearly went off !!! Dodgy time of day with deer around but 7 miles @ 1.4 mpm is 84mph average ! good shooting Heart in mouth = this Edited October 27, 2010 by GUMBALL
gus the bus Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) I'd have driven my old Forestry Commission Sherpa van(remember them )over that road better than that Great road though, cant remember how many times I've been over it but knew every corner that was coming up next in the footage Edited October 27, 2010 by Gus the Bus
euan_r Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 im not suprised driving got slated on scoobynet. looked too close to oncomming vehicles at the beginning and rs looked twitchy. if subaru was filmed from rear i doubt it would look any better either.
ciaranrb5 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Why drive like that? On the wrong side of the white line even though there is clearly a car coming. 4.38 is a brown trouser moment as thats a hard thing to manage in an Impreza in the dry
Ovv Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Driving is a bit lairy IMHO so Im not surprised that its getting a slagging. Yes by all means drive quickly and take the apex into and out of the corners, but only when you can actually see round them. Not the best time of day to be driving like that either. Looks a nice drive though. Google Maps location please !!!
Rossco_ Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Cops are on the case - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lincolnshire/7960699.stm
Gumball Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 4.38 is a brown trouser moment as thats a hard thing to manage in an Impreza in the dry I wonder if he admitted to his ford mate he nearly went off there. RS nearly hit a motorbike at a right hander too ! Ovv- I agree but also disagree. If you step out right over the lines on a left hander to keep the car planted and see if its clear, it wont take a second to move back in if something is coming. Yes if you are on a notorious road for bikers you could seriously meet in the middle. The location starts at the top of the hill out of Aberfoyle village and ends at the hotel next to loch Arklet.
mystery machine Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 7 miles @ 1.4 mpm is 84mph average ! Naaah! 0:14 http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&sll=53.208706,-2.444115&sspn=0.148455,0.293884&ie=UTF8&hnear=&ll=56.184439,-4.388094&spn=0.003893,0.026543&z=16&layer=c&cbll=56.184443,-4.388089&panoid=Poc6GG1WYliwdaPSWKqQ3g&cbp=11,71.57,,0,6.77 5:03 http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&sll=53.208706,-2.444115&sspn=0.148455,0.293884&ie=UTF8&hnear=&layer=c&cbll=56.225161,-4.404356&panoid=5Zdzc2BUMjLpJE84NdiOmA&cbp=11,264.64,,0,5.95&ll=56.225174,-4.404316&spn=0.01503,0.073471&z=14 Roughly 4.8m in 289s = 60mph Anyway, my guess is that both these guys "take it up the Duke's Pass" on a regular basis. Messy.
mystery machine Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Google Maps location please !!! Links above. Used to be a great road... a bit blind but plenty of elevations and interesting cambers. However, the surface was humped last time I went up about 18 months ago - haven't been back since. Also a popular cycling route, which can make it a bit hazardous... Edited October 27, 2010 by Mystery Machine

Gumball Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Anyway, my guess is that both these guys "take it up the Duke's Pass" on a regular basis. Messy. LOL. terrible men driving fast
paul555sti Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 As my mate often reminds me, what's the point in having a car that handles / corners well only to straight line right through them! Taking the apex should be kept for the track or at least your own side of the road. IMHO
scooby222 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 do you need reminded about corners often Paul? standard of driving is shocking, either that or those rs's really dont handle! dont think the old scandanavian flick is either called for or appropriate... does make me fancy a blast over the pass though, never done it in the car but muchos grinos on the bike
paul555sti Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Dave I have forgotten how to drive as I haven't been in the Scooby in over a year but one of the last runs was over the pass chasing my mate on his 600cc bike
scooby222 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 hope its going to get dusted down in 2011 mate! once you get back behind the wheel you wont be able to stop grinning - how about a march/april run over the dukes?
mystery machine Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 LOL. terrible men driving fast Totally unabashed livestock troublers.
Hightower Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 i do love that bit of road, like the flames out of the rs
Gumball Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I thinkit is a focus RS owners thing to drive like a proper tool. check these nuggets out cyclists pedestrians motorists animals no one is safe
