Scaphoid Fracture

Recommended Posts

Well, hopefully that's me sorted. Went into hospital yesterday morning at 9.30am and then went downstairs at 11.30.

Got the cannula in my hand and the anaesthetist was chatting away to me and I could feel myself getting light headed.....quite a nice feeling :)

Next thing I knew I was coming round in recovery.

Wasn't as bad as initially thought. No need for a bone graft, just a screw.

Got a half bandage/cast on for the next 2 weeks then a full cast for a further 4.

Worst thing is the cast is up to my thumb and the surgeon told me....no driving!!

I've got my Tramadol for the pain which is quite nice :hyper:

All this for a wee bone!!!

Broke my wrist quite badly when I was a kid. It needed to be straightened before being put in a cast. Doctor put my arm on the table, walloped it with his fist, concluded 'that's straightened it' and sent me off to get plastered. That was 20 years ago now and still not a moment I will ever forget.

Last time I had a general I came round singing and swearing, in a jovial way, but was still told off by the nurses, in a light-hearted way

Think depends how much you get, or how long your under. The last for me was a quickie, but had an op years ago that lasted a few hours and was ill for at good day and a half after. :barf:

Tramadol :stoned:

sounds similar to what my sisters done to her wrist she was painting her ceiling, and fell of the ladder, her wrist bone poped out and folded back against her forearm . shes still in agony and been going to physyo and specialist,

she is suing the local council because the reason she fell of the ladder was because her living room floor was severely subsided and was meant to have been re-laid and leveled off by them as its a council house , but it had been done 3 times and meant to be level when she started decorating her house but it wasnt and the ladder toppled over causing her to fall of it while she was still up it ,

after reporting it and putting a claim in , they sent out builders again and it was still unlevel and has been relayed a 4th time,

but she has no feeling in her hand , its agony anyway she moves it and they are also doing a scan on it as the cast doesnt seem to have worked and they are concerned with blood flow issues too,

council have been told not to talk to her about the case , but the guy that works for them the head guy who send the workers out has been round a couple times to look at the work and decorating thats been done and has questioned her about the case and things so shes spoke to her lawyers about that too,

:o

Back at hospital today for a proper cast. Had a plaster/bandage combo on for the last 2 weeks and this cast will come off on Nov 10th.

Off work til then :)

Probably a few weeks on light duties after that.

Still no driving though :(

Well mate, I'm occupying my time going through all the sections to see where I can add anything. You know, get my post count up etc! And it seemed to be a bit quiet at the mo.

I think there's a tattoo thread that no-one's replied to in over a year so I might find that next. :)

Anyway, are you not worse by replying and keeping it going, making me reply to your reply and keep it going further!

Now...if you were to reply to my reply about your reply......
