As I understand it it was just too windy even with 2 cars trying to hold it down

So please

<< Pretty poor show >>

is a little uncalled for as a lot of people went out of there way to organise it

ok,ok slightly ott with "pretty poor show" but they could have tried again today, didn't see any other parties with stands give up & there were quite a few guys wandering about looking for the SIDC stand/tent.better luck next time with weatherface-icon-small-wink.gif

Thanks

Its just that comments like that often are very disheartning when I know, for example Cam had to drive to Edinburgh to collect the Marquee.

Lets hope the summer bring us some better weather

Shoulda been there on Sat bud,

We had plenty of motas on the stand (7 from memory) and a good few on track.

Had 2 take down the tent though later on (bout 14:00) as the wind woulda damaged it or we`d have lost it face-icon-small-smile.gif

I dunno who was on the stand on Sunday, but i had to make an appearance at Crail so was only on the stand at KH on Sat face-icon-small-wink.gif

We did have terrible problems with the wind and rain on Saturday, which meant we had to take the marquee down. We were planning to leave it up overnight, but even with it tied down to two cars, it was lifting off the ground and running the risk of a) getting broken, B) damaging some of the cars nearby (our own!). Knockhill staff were there until 8pm, trying to control one of the huge marquees in the main area, which also had taken off in the high winds (it weighed over 1 ton in weight!!), and was dangerously close to many cars, other stands etc.

As Dougster had the only wagon, he had to take it in his car. On Sunday morning, at about 11:30, it was still raining and miserable, with a strong breeze, so we took the decision not to erect the marquee, and Dougster headed off to Doune as planned to watch the hillclimb.

Typical Knockhill weather - it then started to dry up, and by about 1pm, the rain and wind had stopped, and a dry line was forming on track, but there was nothing we could do by then face-icon-small-sad.gif By the end of the afternoon, it w3as actually quite pleasant, and although not warm, you didn't need 15 layers of clothing to keep warm.

Later in the afternoon, we did get all the Imprezas lined up in the paddock area, and handed out a few flyers for the club.

There was even one Impreza that managed to get out on track with all the supercars (Diablo, TVRs, 911s, GT40, Exiges etc.), and did quite well, lapping the Esprit turbo about 3 times, and the Diablo twice. The track was still wet though face-icon-small-wink.gif

All in all it was a very good weekend out, and very nice to meet lots of you there face-icon-small-happy.gif

- we'll just have to make sure we've got more suitable transport for the marquee next time.

The weather was typically KH. (and to think that all of you who laughed when I got the tartan rug out!!)

The wind was dangerous as the guys from Revs found out packing up by lunch time after their tent took off in our direction. (stopped from reaching our cars by Kart-man and your's truly!!)

Guys next door didn't last much longer with their canopy.

I'm keeping it for now as it has slammed my wagon to a 60mm drop!!!! face-icon-small-wink.gif

Phil, I think JohnS got more pictures from all sides.

I've got lots of photos of the stand. They are all 2Mb files at the moment, so will need to be shrunk in size before uploading anywhere/e-mailling, and I've not had a minute to do them all yet, but will try and do so this evening.

Cheers

John
