frankyboy Posted July 14, 2010 Author Posted July 14, 2010 Was he maybe just meaning the 100k service, and got his words muddled up? na defo saying it needed a rebuild before 100k
jonboywrx Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 My engine had 119k on it when i started to strip the car, not one prob with engine as was serviced regulary! Never heard/seen any posts about rebuild at 100k!!!
sparky_sj04 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 There is every chance it is still very healthy at 94k and could be for a long time. If it has been serviced regularly enough and good oil used then it should still be going strong. If it feels good then that's probably because it is! Tell your mate to stop being tight and stump up!!!
gus the bus Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) My First Forester built up 186k in four years when I sold it It was running like a dream still with only regular scheduled maintenance so, the 100k thing is a lot of bull Edited July 14, 2010 by Gus the Bus
Vimmy Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Hi Frankyboy, I wouldnt worry about the 100k mark, my car is now at 205k on the original block and gaskets and still runs as strong as when I bought it at 94k 5 years ago. The car has been serviced, without fail, every 7.5k and I have never had an major issues. The only minor issue is the very slow drip from rocker cover gasket where its always immersed in oil, but I will get this done as and when the engine finally gives and i get a rebuild then. There is the normal wear and tear and mods that have been done to it and in just goes on and on. I was getting the car remapped with a new Simtec ecu with Bob Rawle when it went over 200k and its pushing more power now without any issue. As long as the car has been serviced then there is no reason for the engine to give up so I would keep it, if its not broke dont mend it and deffo dont sell it Cheers, Col
frankyboy Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 only reason im selling it is so a can get a saloon only reson a got the wagon is because it was child friendly (cos my girlfriend wanted a family car) but now she is driving the world is my oyster so want another scoobie but saloon this time
Vimmy Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 (edited) Ah I thing you'd be getting a raw deal with the saloon, the Wagons are the cars to have methinks Edited July 15, 2010 by Vimmy
