StewartyBoy Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 (edited) Well seen as no-one else has jumped in yet, I may as well. These are personal circumstances and experiences. Painting leaves a lovely textured finish, meaning you can pick any colour and have it mixed easily. Powdercoating isnt so easy. Also painting doesnt chip as bad, powdercoating tends to come off in clumps. Chemeleon did a brilliant job powdercoating mine well happy at the colour. If its painting then just pick an extremely good paintshop mate. Rich had his done by JB Coachworks in Paisley. Edited June 9, 2010 by StewartyBoy

colin_ross Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Chameleon did a set for me a couple of years ago. They looked great at the time but have started to bubble up quite badly. Remember that a couple of years means about 3- 4 thousand miles on my car so not best pleased. The wheels have not been kerbed either, its the spokes that it's started on. To add insult to injury if it get them redone it would wreck my original Rays stickers which are all but irreplacable and cost a small fortune.

Looked great to begin with but after approx 5k miles they were starting to bubble and were completely wrecked after a few thousand more. Didn't use any nasty products on them and washed with just soap and water, then waxing them afterwards. Just had mine re-done by Auto Image on Great Western Road. Not sure if he does them in-house but the service was top notch. Done in a gold colour, and it is a little dull compared to Chameleon's version but the overall finish is very good. Only done a couple of thousand on them so only time will tell how they last.

craigdmcd Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I got my PFF7's done by Pristine in Milton Keynes. I boxed them up (easy - just get boxes from a Alloy wheel shop), they got them collected, cleaned and inspected, found one was damaged and repaired it (where a stupid Subaru lock nut had broken and had to be ground out) for an additional 40 quid, then took them back to bare and coated /painted /whatever they do to them. They then sent them back and actually look better than when I got them new from Halley's. Total cost - 280GBP (no stupid pounds sign on this keyboard). I can't recommend them highly enough. Craig
