Ayrshire scoobies ? Aberdeen scoobies ?
nightmare Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 nice one grant as for classes just as stated really i think std. 215 to 280 mod. 280 to 380 extreme. 400. upwards basically we should just stick to power figures or let each person enter what class they think are best chances of winning also none of this road car vs trailered car just bring it what ever way you can . any suggestions
wulsey Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 (edited) Good stuff Grant I'll stick it up on Ayrshirescoobys as the ayrshirescoobies site is no more. I'll also stick it up on DGscoobs aswell. Barry Edited May 3, 2010 by wulsey
terzo neil Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 i think power figures would be better makes the classes tighter
TrackScotland Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 dont you think the extreme class is a little (un)extreme? 400bhp isnt that extreme in an Impreza. If I pitch up with our 2dr (on a trailer) with 390'ish bhp (its completly stripped, caged, semi slicks etc) and set a decent time it'll be in the modified class?
nightmare Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 well stick the 2 door in whatever powerband you think you will win i would say thats a fair bet
terzo neil Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 what about power levels std. 215 to 280 mod. 280 to 350 serious 350 to 450 extreme. 450. upwards

terzo neil Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 is there going be different sections road legal and non road legal if you are going to be running slicks then car not capable of runnijg on the road how about a class and b class and power levels 1,2,3 and 4 if running slick and 400 bhp you would be in B3 or running road legal tyres with 250 bhp you woyld be in A1

sti pretender Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I think the 4 classes is fine keep it simple. Will save agruements. My Type R will be trailer purely because it isn't Taxed or Mot'd. Happy to go against a stripped out track car it is only a bit of fun.
colin_ross Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I don't know how much power my car makes (honestly). Should I just go in the standard section?
braveheart Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 4 classes I would suggest me up against a 400 bhp is a bit unfair To be honest I'm sure there is a few others that would aggree class 4 anything over the 500 bhp and above just a suggestion hope Im home for this ...

TrackScotland Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 nightmare said: well stick the 2 door in whatever powerband you think you will win i would say thats a fair bet That wont work. In a perfect world where nobody bends rules etc maybe. I'll stick it in the standard class. joke. No idea how you go about sorting all these classes out without creating too many! 4 seems a good number but I agree with braveheart. 500bhp should be the base for the top class. That should see all the monsters in the top flight. Another problem is knowing the power you are running. Some folk are running 400 shetland ponies, and some 400 clydsdales! You also need to trust people to be honest, and then believe them once they set a quick (too quick) time. Road Car Track Car 500bhp + (sub 12's) Its all very complicated LOLK
colin_ross Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 All starting to sound very complicated to me. To work the system has to be simple and ideally no more than 3 catagories. The two ways I'd recommend are either.. Road vs track - If your car is driven to the event (and not just the last mile) proving it has tax, mot and insurance it's a road car. Everything else is a track car. Previous performance - Split the cars up based on their previous best quarter mile time. 11 sec and under is Class 1, 12 sec is class 2, 13 and up is class 3. Both of these methods take out the bhp and weight calculations required to see where your car sits.
sti pretender Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Why not nearer the time do a poll for timed or power, then set out the rules based on result save the arguements.
fai17 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 If its just drag then i would agree with Colin regarding the classes. Its would take the BHP out of the equation. I don't think i would be bothered with road trim and race trim and MOT and TAX stuff! If it gets there then it can race. Class1 - 11sec and under Class2 - 12sec Class3 - 13sec and above Then a final shoot out where all the winners and running up can race againsts each other.
TrackScotland Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 er... so thats Class 1 - 11.99 sec and under Class 2 - 12.00 to 12.99 sec Class 3 - 13.00 sec and slower. (most cars?) Not really clued up on most times for Imprezas, and no real idea what mine would run as I've never dragged it :S. Would any of those groups be really clogged up? If a Class 2 car runs a 11.99 its punted up to Class 1 during the day yes?

Would any of those groups be really clogged up? 68 cars on the quarter mile list as it stands today. 14 would fall into class one 20 would fall into class two 34 would fall into class three with the slowest car running a 14.67 It looks like class three is top heavy but many of these cars have only done the drag strip once or twice and you’re more likely to see the guys in the top half of the list coming forward and signing up. If you’re worried about big groups vs empty ones power would be a lot worse in my opinion. I would suggest that once you are in your class you stay there. If you got 13.5 the last time you went on the strip and bang out a 11.8 you deserve to win in my book. Of course there are other ways of doing it but this to me is the easiest

RA Dunk Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Policing this would be a nightmare if your going by BHP, whats to say little Jonny claims he has 280 but actually has 350? All you are going on is peoples word and more often than not people will tell lies and enter in the easiest class for the sake of winning
BalliSTIc Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I'm with Dunk - BHP is a bit subjective and open to abuse! How about something like: 1 No power mods 2 Power mods but no remaps (eg: air filter, catback exhaust etc) 3 Remapped but with standard internals 4 Remapped, forged internals but standard transmission 5 Remap, forged internals, uprated transmission Again (as with any system) it relies to an extent on competitor honesty... but a bit more tangible than numbers only.
