Is Anyone Here Running An Afp5-16?

Hello folks,

As title says, are any of you running the Andy Forrest AFP5-16?

If so, what are your thoughts on it? Does it hold boost well and what supporting mods are you running? What kind of figures are they producing?

I'm only asking as im considering going down another turbo route.

Cheers,

Lewis

I think Scoobysailor is running a TD05 16g with pink injectors, decat turbo back system and STi TMIC?

Going by his signature his figures after Andy F remapped it are:

"MICA RED 01 BUGEYE WRX - 333BHP/324lbft - assembled by SW Motorsport, mapped by Andy Forrest and driven like an old lady by ME!"

Hope this helps  .

P.S. I'm booked in with Andy for a remap after similar items fitted in 19 days, 18hrs and 49mins...Not that I'm counting :) !!!

email andy and ask him whats best?

Thanks for that Phil, quite interesting. Im due down at Andy soon too. Which turbo to attach is my current problem...

Bob, I was planning to email the man himself tonight, I just wanted everyone else's views too.

My figures are similar to Fraser's with 334/335. Same mods apart from a VF34.

Let me know how you get on, and what sort of figures you get Maxy?

That's same as my fit, except i'll have 650cc injectors, magnex headers and the sti tmic fitted.

Not sure if my setup will achieve any more than yours, but will have a bit more protection built in hopefully?

Can I ask why you went 16g route instead of VF route, not saying anything wrong just curious. Were you not tempted by an 18g ?

Similar idea I want for my blob and just building up the info to try and make right decision of what to get.

andy recommends that you choose the smallest turbo capable meeting your power requirements and i am only looking to make 300 (anymore is a bonus)

so the 16g was ideal for what power i was looking for ......plus i never had a td05 to trade in so price was on my mind and the wife was on my case !!!

will post up once i am back from andys

Thanks for the replies folks, much appreciated.

Maxy - what car/current turbo are you running? If you are after 300bhp then surely all the mods you quote along with an AFP04H instead of the 16G would have been the smaller and quicker spooling option? Like C WRX, not having a go or persuading you either way.

I have all you listed above on my T2000 with a standard TD04 and made 277/312 according to Andy.

Ssshhhh! Dont tell everyone! :D

I may be interested Ciaran. Got a few other things to sort out. Mainly the dreaded judder! I could go on and on about the farkin erse that "skimmed" the flywheel to a finish that could only be described as Himalayan. Or the person that didnt change the spigot bearing at the same time but i'm over it now.

Plans are afoot though...if you still have it when im ready for it, I will be in touch. Have you had any interest?

Only advertised it on here so far. Im sure if it was on Scoobynet it would dissapear pretty quick.

You still not fixed that bloody clutch yet you

In no hurry though. To be honest with my luck selling things to you it will fall apart when you fit it ;)

Im still getting judder after a good few hundered miles on a new spigot and Agra skimmed FW so I'm wondering if something may be bent...

It would go like a shot over there mate.

I'm still undecided on what I'm doing turbo wise. Will wait and see. Needs a new radiator too.

FARKIN MONEY PIT!!!

You knew it would be a money pit when you bought it :D

Im going for a bigger fancy stainless radiator when rebuilding.

I have also discovered paint stailess also as i corrodes as well. Painted my FMIC

when I fitted it and after 8 months it is in as good condition as the day i bought it :D

Sorry Lewis, I just spotted this thread. I have the mods mentioned above and it drives really well, not massive power compared to some cars on here but really good for road driving, spools up quickly and just keeps pulling. I am so happy with the set up I am not planning on any more mods (not performance ones anyway :)).

No, I was going to run a standard car! Starting to wish I had gone JDM again...

No worries, thanks for that Fraser. I'm just gonna go ahead with the AFP and see what like. If i dont like it then I'll see about a VF...

Which engine and 'box are you running?

20g's are rather well known for turning uk classic engine and 'box's to molten mush!
