fraser_allan Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Love the banter, its class, im wettin myself. Gav, keep up the the good work. Selling super cars for the middle class.
scoobyseller555 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Graeme This is the bit i can never understand,'the JDM car would have been a better base' surely with what you finish up with, you will have a much better car than that of its JDM equivalent. Gav
the squiggle Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I know av got grey hair but FFS,mid 60's yer takin the p***. What makes your car a belter surely is not the fact that its a JDM car but a TRIAL car,i'm thinking that there is probably nothing JDM left about the car.?? Gav With TRIAL being the JDM equivalent of RCMS/Zen/Lateral then i must disagree and say that my car is very much JDM JDM Base model JDM aftermarket parts Only thing UK spec is the ECU with subsequent map, recently fitted Goodyear tyres and fuel pressure regulator so 99.7253% JDM and the rest UK parts. Mid 60's reference was a wish for me so i could have got into an Impreza earlier than i did but no regrets on that part as i would have rather came to game at the age i did than jump into one at 17 years old and promptly shove it up a tree. The Suzuki, Orion and Vtec Honda was a decent learning curve before jumping into a JDM Impreza. x
scoobyseller555 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Love the banter, its class, im wettin myself. Gav, keep up the the good work. Selling super cars for the middle class. Fraser Thats a sign, wettin yourself, try control pants,ye must be gettin on a bit like me!! I like that......adapted........'SELLING MIDDLE CARS FOR THE SUPER CLASS' aye thats me Gav
the squiggle Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 If I knew then what I know now I would have had a JDM, but I just wanted an Impreza STI. what research I did at the time (15 min test drive) convinced me that I wanted the STI.Still very happy with my lot but the JDM would have been a better base. Just looking forward to converting mine from the Fred Flintstone mobile that it is at the moment due to that bloomin dodgy spark plug into my very own fire breathing monster (getting rather bored of the disastra and not being able to overtake anything more than a shopping trolley) Graeme You would have never fitted into the slimmer JDM seats
mic Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Well I bought a Uk2000 rather than an sti due to insurance reasons, and have since had a andy f remap, and i tell you something, there is nothing that pleases me more than pulling away from standard JDM models driven by guys who think they're car is superior... Yes it may well be, but driving the best you can afford is what we all aim for? We are all Subaru nuts here, so surely as long as it has that iconic badge then we'll love it? Having said that, I want a type r, in white please lol

Its like saying that a LICHFIELD is a JDM car, when in fact at its heart is a UK built engine by Cosworth, built in Japan and Made much much better in the UK. the squiggle Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 'I am sure even you are aware of this' LOST 'nothing arrogant'well i think it is very arrogant to tell someone who loves, cherishes and takes pride in there UK car that its a pile of $hit and they would have been better buying a JDM car instead. Anyway back on topic its a UK Sti Cosworth thats coming soon..............................................and i will still be selling them to all those crazy people who should be going out and buying a JDM car. Cheers Gav I said inferior to the equivalent JDM product and not "pile of $hit" Please dont misquote me even though i know nothing, i know what i am saying. Being a salesman for Subaru in the UK selling a product specified for the UK then you would be 5 coconuts short of a Bounty Bar at a Bounty Bar convention if you told them that they could get a vastly superior car going elsewhere.
G.Mac Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Graeme This is the bit i can never understand,'the JDM car would have been a better base' surely with what you finish up with, you will have a much better car than that of its JDM equivalent. Gav Ahh, but I would have had the defi style clocks, quick rack and a REAR WASH WIPE !!!!! amongst others I realy dont understand why we dont get a rear wiper in the UK where we need it the most (to help keep an eye out for the cops....lol) I suppose that if I had the slimmer JDM seats it may have given me more of an insentive to watch my weight so therefor owning a JDM helps to keep you healthy!!!....lol ( might still need to go on a crash diet as I have not sat in mine for a while now so dont know if I still fit Still not a fan of the Hatch but I detested the Hawk when it came out, but now I think it looks brilliant. Undoubtably the hatch will be a good car but at the moment the styling isn't for me but im sure that the Cosworth edition will be a stonking car if you can look past the focus looks and the bling bling rear lights I think to make the hatch a winner it needs different grille, larger looking scoop, larger flared arches and decent rear light clusters.....oh and an engine that does not go pop after a couple of thousand miles going by the ammount of failures posted on scabbynet / NASIOC etc Graeme
the squiggle Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 See this is where it all falls apart as far as i'm concerned,JDM is Japanese DEALER Market,a reference given to the vehicles sold in Japan through there dealerships(whether it be Nissan,Mitsi,Subaru,Honda etc)so i would have thought that as TRIAL are a recognised tuning, aftermarket company(zerosports, mines, hks to name but a few)if a car is to be ripped appart like yours has and come out the other end as something completely unlike what it began as then it can't be classed as a JDM car, surely its now a TRIAL fatboy, nothing more nothing less, its not a JDM STI V4 coupe anymore. Its like saying that a LICHFIELD is a JDM car, when in fact at its heart is a UK built engine by Cosworth, built in Japan and Made much much better in the UK. Gav Not wanting to teach my grandmother how to suck eggs but a basic acronym like JDM should be understood before posting that My car is based on a V3 Type R V-Limited and was originally White
scooby222 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 You would have never fitted into the slimmer JDM seats damn it!! i was going to say the same as Graeme but thats me out as well! can i suggest a santa cruise fund raising boxing match between Grant in the rising sun shorts and Gav in union jack ones?
jcscoob Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Great, a popcorn thread subaru&cosworth could only be good
colin_ross Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 JDM = Japanese domestic market, ie cars spec'd for Japan. I've had a UK and a JDM car. In standard spec they were nothing alike to drive.
StrikE Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Great, a popcorn thread LOL hurry up you lot i need to get to bed
scoobyseller555 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Not wanting to teach my grandmother how to suck eggs but a basic acronym like JDM should be understood before posting thatMy car is based on a V3 Type R V-Limited and was originally White So its been ripped appart has very little of the great stuff of the JDM 'Subaru' built much better and not inferior($hite) and its not even the same colour Edited to read correctly, thanks for catching me before i fell. Definition of Inferior-at the bottom, closer to the bottom or base, lower in place, rank or quality=$hite Gav
micra_wrc Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 So its been ripped appart has very little of the great stuff of the JDM 'Subaru' built much better and not inferior($hite) and its not even the same colour ... Gav, what are you on? Its still a Type R. ie a JDM car.
scoobyseller555 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 av ate all ma popcorn drank all ma wine so..................do you think one of you could phone me a take-away as i'm an inferior Subaru salesman and can't use my phone($hite) Gav
the squiggle Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 You are getting a bit ott inferring that i said you were a ****e salesman, from what i can see you are a very good salesman. Need to lay off the wine i reckon and stick to the popcorn
scoobyseller555 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Gav, what are you on?Its still a Type R. ie a JDM car. Christ here we go. 'Its still a Type R' i think i may be getting misunderstood, apart from the bodyshell excluding the rear quarters how much of the car is still 'Type R' exactly. 'ie a JDM car' right so it was a mass production car that i could buy of the shelf in Japan,no,it was a vehicle that started life as a JDM car and finished up something completely different after an independent tuner got there hands on it.I would be upset if i was told that it was just a 'Type R V3 V-Ltd',so a 22B is just a .............yep a Type R V4. I think i'm getting it now, sorry for being a bit slow, its the Grangemouth air you know. Gav

Gav "Definition of Inferior-at the bottom, closer to the bottom or base, lower in place, rank or quality=$hite"....Your off the mark description of inferior and linked with another quote from yourself, albeit toungue in cheek "do you think one of you could phone me a take-away as i'm an inferior Subaru salesman and can't use my phone($hite)" I dont drink, any more facts you need to know
RA Dunk Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I've owned one of each, it's JDM all the way for me from now on, The difference between the two cars is night and day
jcscoob Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 any more facts you need to know Do you stroke goats on a sun drenched snowy peek south of Breamar sporting yfronts and a hanky on yer head ?
paul555sti Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Look surely we are all for the same reason? There is no reason to turn this into a them and us, I own a JDM car now but when i bought my first car from dealership ( and not Gavs ) i wanted a warranty.
