trackhound
I was round at S Dubbya earlier and there were some very 'creative' approaches being explored for the mounting of the Saturn 5 rocket nosecone sized air filter. Photos were being taken which will hopefully be posted by the dream team later. Link to comment
mk1cos
Another update off to Extreme Motorsport Friday with Andy F and Stevie Whitson to get it on the dyno, heading to Stevies today as new filter has arrived and it huge it need's to modify so it can be fitted inside of my bumper as there is not enough space inside the engine as things are tight enough and second bottle of NOS has arrived, hopefully get rid of the gremilins tommorow and now turn up the boost its cheeky on Low boost also upgrading to the next spec of spark plugs so hopefully that will be it tommorow also changing my tyres for some slicks need the grip now, so will now be -putting extra stress on the transmission so next mods will be strenghing mods to drive shafts ect.. Will try and Video it tommorow if i remmeber camera.. PICTURES !!!!!!! Link to comment
stevie.w
Alistair you were right we struggled with the new filter, just a tad bigger than the norm. Frankie boy came up with the perfect solution. He's always been pretty radical with his thoughts!!!!! Check out the finished results. Link to comment

stevie.w
My very thoughts! Andy had said we could be restricted by the airfilter size. Don't think we'll max it out tomorrow this time around. Link to comment

stevie.w
We had a few issues during mapping, later traced to wireing problem on no3 injector plug. Even so Andy had a short window to check and remap Chris's car, still without NOS and running fairly low boost 1.7 I recall. 615/620 BHP were the figures it ran, still very impressive with a good deal more to come according to Andy. I agree the power doesn't tail of at the top end, it just keeps climbing. Oh and don't forget the NOS. Edited March 19, 2010 by stevie.w Link to comment

Good to hear you found the issue Steve, tricky one when it was intermittent and only at high boost 6000+ rpm ! Yes it was good power for the boost (1.75bar) I think once its wound up to 7000rpm and also boosting to the full potential of the turbo it may well increase by a further 30-40 bhp......then add the 75 shot !! Andy. Link to comment
