corsa Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Thats the 2nd one ive broken by a rather large pothole outside Billyboys hoose!!! so the dam things coming off and not being replaced. And to top it all i seen the weirdest thing today a guy trimming the hairs on the inside of his nose with SCISSORS whilst drivng!!! davie Edited January 6, 2010 by corsa
st3ph3n Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 They do look the business but when I broke mine I decided not to bother replacing it for the same reason. Certain car parks became 5 minutes of torture over whether you'd come out with the splitter or not. Good spot on the weird driving too. Man in a BT van in Edinburgh eating a bowl of cereal is my own personal favourite.
colin_ross Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Women (driver) wrapping a present at the traffic lights for me.
seafar99 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) HT Auto's spitters seem to be a bit more tougher to the day to day scrimps and scrapes. Local couple dogging it at the layby (sorry different topic.just read front splitter) i found most distracting! Edited December 31, 2009 by seafar99
scouk Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Thats the 2nd one ive broken by the slightest of nudges, today was against a bit of snow!!!so the dam things coming off and not being replaced. Snow is a bit of a bugger with them because it acts as a plow and digs itself in but elsewhere in the event of and impact the splitter takes the brint of hte force rather than destoying your entire bumper... I'd rather replace the splitter than the front end anyday! Deer anyone! I've got a fibreglass one but I beleive HT Autos now do a range of more flexible ones.. Not sure how well they paint up though..
Maxxed_Ross Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I obliterated mine a few weeks back after spinning on black ice at about 3mph... that'll be my second in a year! Found a good place on ebay that does cheap replica splitters, I I think one of those will be going on next as it look daft without a splitter IMO

Replaced it with a genuine STi (Carbon Fibre Look) bonded front splitter, installed by Grieves. I have got to say its absolutely solid. Will post a couple of pics up later.

col666 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I smashed an HT Autos one to bits last year, got another one and so far its been pretty good at clearing the road! Its really flexible and held on with tons of screws!
DR Motosport Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 A fibreglass splitter will break hitting anything above a couple of mph. Bumpers are made from ABS plastic. Hit anything above 10 mph, and your bumper would crack. That's all ABS plastic can cope with to spring back to it's original shape. Splitters that are made from ABS plastic, for that same reason, will also break with a 10mph impact. I've just replaced a customers ABS spiller on his hawkeye when the mechanic at Arnold Clark snapped it in 2 when he was driving it onto a ramp for it's MOT. So it's the joys of wanting to fit a splitter I'm afraid.

ciaranrb5 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Iv recently moved into a new house and coming onto the street is a 20 dergree angle which catches my front splitter unless I crawl out. It is so steep that I can get 1 wheel off the ground if I go at an angle. My splitter is Fibreglass but so far has not cracked. I was out driving in snow that was actually higher than it the other day cleared my mates drive for him that which made me laugh
corsa Posted January 2, 2010 Author Posted January 2, 2010 (edited) Heres a pic of the goosed one. Now off, unless the one i noted above may cover up the scratches . That Means Mr Scoobyseller, will the one fitted on the grey one above cover my scratches and if so then you send me a small goat with the S/F price? Edited January 2, 2010 by corsa
Wee Jock Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Heres a pic of the goosed one.Now off, unless the one i noted above may cover up the scratches . That Means Mr Scoobyseller, will the one fitted on the grey one above cover my scratches and if so then you send me a small goat with the S/F price? I reckon it would cover those scratches! Supplied and fitted inc discount was £348.20 (By Mr Scoobyseller)
Wee Jock Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 it better last at that price!!!! Having had both types of splitter I would now take the bonded splitter all the time, it is solid and worth that little bit extra!
