jamesm Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Thought that yesterday browsing Pistonheads. Saw 3 or 4 advertised as an STI which clearly weren't. Just waiting for the first unsuspecting punter to come along!
C_WRX Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 ...and traded in as what ?! Now would you sit tight lipped or own up ? I'm way too honest, so would say of course !
st3ph3n Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 An honest man from South Lanarkshire? Surely some mistake
jamesm Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 ...and traded in as what ?!Now would you sit tight lipped or own up ? I'm way too honest, so would say of course ! As long as you don't actually tell them it is an STI when it is not, then I would just accept the price they wanted to offer. A few years ago my parents traded in a base model which had all the extras on it to make it look like a much higher spec car. They correctly told him what model it was but being a typical salesman, didn't listen and assumed it was the higher spec car. My parents didn't realise and the first they knew they have been given too high a price for the trade-in was three days after the dropped it off when the garage phoned up to tell them. By then the deal was done and the garage had no come back. I am sure the salesman got a very large boot up the backside.
wrxcook Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 My mates got a car that's near looks pretty much the same wrx 2.5 uk spec, it does have extras such as scooshers for the lights etc but is 230bhp nice car but no sti

billyboy Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 About three years ago someone tried to trade in an STi to the dealer i work in.The sales manager came into my office and said "come and see the badyboy sti like yours im taking in".So i went outside and pointed out thats no STi its a WRX.No sti interior,no badging,no brembo brakes standard intercooler and silver manifold etc etc.I peed myself laughing all the way back to my office. You should have seen the punters face when he was advised it wasnt an sti and the trade in price was dropped 2 grand.
Hightower Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 one of the guys at my work did it a few years ago went to trade his celica gt for a 5 series bmw. he told the salesman what the car was he gave them a price and he instantly twigged what had happened but said nothing. (priced a gt4) did the deal... then he came offshore and his wife went up to pick up the car and they would not give it to her unless she paid 2500 quid more. she called the rig, a quick call to there solicitor. solicitor made call to dealer, dealer called his wife asking what time is best to have the car delivered.......nice one. he went back in to that dealer to change his 5 series about 18 months later and spoke to the salesman that did the deal and he had a poster on the wall of his office. I HATE CELICAS. surprisingly he was not offered that good a deal so went somewhere else to get his next car. class!!
billyboy Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Even tho ive worked in he trade since 1978,i love to hear stories where the customer has ripped a salesman.(Glorified shop assistants)
