Dugbawz Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 (edited) I stupidily misjudged whilst reversing tonight in the Rb, caught the top of my rear bumper against the sandstone on my house, Got a couple of nasty gouges to get repaired, can anyone recommend a good company in the Falkirk/Central area who can repair as new but doesn't rip the piss as far the price goes?. Advice appreciated. Craig Edited September 29, 2009 by Dugbawz
StrikE Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 might be worth just going to the dealers m8, they really dont cost that much and is worth it in the long run, especially with the RB! Del

StrikE Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 For the repair or a new bumper?Craig Both if needed Craig, if you are in Falkirk m8 give Grieves a call, i think a new front bumper was about £170 ish m8 when i was pricing mine up [RB] a rear should be a lot cheaper so cant hurt to ask & haggle with them Del hope you get sorted though m8 as i know how annoying it is to scrap a car

Thanks again, Craig
oobster Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 A few miles from Falkirk, but Stevie Walkers in Bathgate are very good. 01506 633471. Me, Gus The Bus, braveheart, kennyuk300 and a few others on here have used him. Braveheart's white classic is in there just now I think.
scoobyseller555 Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Gary Turner in Stirling, amazing at smart repairs on bumpers,i would send £100k cars there and know that it would come back perfect. Goes by the business name of Paint Wizard in Springkerse,Audi and BM use him amongst others Gav
camcq Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 or theres gary @ autotechnique 01324 579697. just in larbert
Dugbawz Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 Thanks for all the input, I have just dropped into Grieves in Falkirk and as they are not a bodyshop, they want £220 for the bumper alone, they are going to give me phone later with a all in price for spraying and fitting, could end up a costly f%&kup. gRRRR
Phil MC Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Try Keith at Chipsaway (Tel- 07951 219566) He's done flawless plastic welds, bumper repairs and spot-on paint matching for me before. He also comes to your home/workplace to sort it as you wait. I'd at least give him a bell and let him quote you.
dan_jess Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Can you take a picture of the damage? Surely the existing bumper can be repaired? Take it round to any of the above mentioned places, i bet you will be surprised at the price, wont be expensive.

Dugbawz Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 80 quid at Gary Turners in Stirling, just had the wifes X5 into him for a quote for the same thing Gav [/quote Got a quote from Gary at Paint wizard, first thing he said was, its normally £90, but due to the fact the bumper is damaged on the top surface and not the back face, there wasn't a line to blend the repair to, so its going to be £150 and he will blend the repair to the outer edges of the bumper. He seemed to know what he was talking about so its going in on Monday, I'll let you guys know how it goes. Ps going through Grieves for a new bumper was going to be 190+vat for bumper, spray and fitting at Burgoynes £250+vat Dont call me, I'll call you, haha Cheers, Craig
dan_jess Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Not too bad at that price then. £250 to spray and fit a new bumper is shocking!
Dugbawz Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 fffing disgrace if you ask me, they got us all by the short and curlys though, they know we want to keep the cars in mint condition if possible. Cheers, Craig
scoobyseller555 Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Thats why i told you to go to Garys,£190+VAT for a front bumper aint bad and that doesnt include your 10% SIDC Discount either. All will be well by Tuesday!! Gav@Grieves
