Big 'D' Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) Hi all I would like to hear all (if any) of your thoughts on anything that could be done, added, removed, changed etc within the club to make it more appealing to you. I cant help but notice that the local involvement within the club is at an all time low, is there any real reason for this? Cheers Iain Edited September 14, 2009 by Big 'D'
MalcB Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Hi all I would like to hear all (if any) of your thoughts on anything that could be done, added, removed, changed etc within the club to make it more appealing to you. I can help but notice that the local involvement within the club is at an all time low, is there any real reason for this? Cheers Iain I'm new to Scoobie land but have to say this does appear to be one of the busiest and most friendly forum's for the marque. I came from Galant VR4's and was (still are) a long term member of ClubVR4 which is always busy and full of friendly banter. This forum seems on par. I think though having said that, with the financial situation as it is, peoples thoughts are probably other things beside cars. Keep up the good work!
myles Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I hope the connection between me arriving and the numbers dropping to an all time low are purely coincidental (no comments please, Matt!). Seriously though, I think Malc has it right with the financial implications, also as it has been summer (honestly) partners and wives probably put the hard word on to do family stuff. The selfish buggers. Is there a date set for the October meet yet? I enjoyed myself at the last one, meeting like minded nutters. PS Got myself a catless up-pipe now, so it will be the full de-cat when the time is suitable!

I have always found the club very friendly and full of banter too, that is and I am sure never will be in question, what ,my question was aimed at is the lack of drive and motivation to do anything as a local unit to make the club a more involving and fun scene to be part of. I know times are tight finacially but that is no reason not to have fun, things can be done on the cheap too Keep the feedback coming guys Cheers Iain
edmondo Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Iain mainly I think its cos its Summer - I have always noticed that once the nights draw in and the weather isnt quite so good that people seem t spend more time on places like this...............if there has been a mad few who have kept it alive during the summer then that encourages people during the winter to spend time here Cheers

Cheers Iain

Big 'D' Posted September 14, 2009 Author Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) What I am after is suggestions that you think would make the club better both locally and nationally. (pWhilst you have your thinking caps on please remember the club is not just about the forums so dont forget that we are a very mobile, phisical and social club too ) So get your thinking caps on guys and see what you can come up with, please remember its not just down to the R/Os to make things happen it requires alot of input and commitment from you the members/forum users too. Cheers Iain Edited September 14, 2009 by Big 'D'
stum450n Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 It's your club guys so do make sure you let Iain know what you would like to see - and what you don't like to see come to that! As we've said before, this place would be nothing without its members so don't feel shy about telling us what you want to see and do!

HairyDJ Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I'm not sure that there's any magic solution, and whilst your enthusiasm to keep us busy is great, don't let it get you down if we aren't all showing up to everything Summer weekends for me are almost always packed with marshaling, so I'm not going to make too much during the nice weather (unless a few of you fancy joining in of course!) The other problem for me is that it's a good hour's drive to reach you folk - I applaud Stu's idea of a bit of a blast, but heading out for another 100 miles or so takes most of the day & a tank full of fuel I would suggest that we try to have a regular (and therefore known well in advance) pattern of dates - it would also be smart to avoid weekends where our neighbours have their meets too. Hopefully, if we know the dates well in advance, that just leaves us to decide what we're going to do & where. Is one every month too many (or not enough!!) Event-wise, I normally like to get something to eat (before / during / after - or all 3), but not too fussed whether we try somewhere different each time, or try to build up a home base. Most places didn't seem that bothered whether we came regularly or not as Sundays were busy enough without us? I suspect that cost is also an issue - big events like Scooby Ball / Track days etc take a lot of cash (doubled if other half joining in too), but do folk fancy the odd "special", or are we better doing cheaper stuff more frequently? In previous years, some of the MK folk tried to meet up and go to the big firework display together - with a bit of a BBQ session thrown in - maybe you guys have got something similar in the area? Would there be enough takers if we could persuade the Cotswold Subaru folk to have a bit of an open day or similar - a lot of us use them and recommend them to others (plus the SIDC discount of course!) so they might be willing? Could also tie it in with a blackcircles fitting session as so many of us seem to discuss what tyres are best ..... Cheers, David

The club (locally) is lacking any drive or enthusiasm to get involved with anything and I am and will keep looking for ways to improve this. After all we cant plan or organise any events if no one wants take part can we (Japshow is a prime example of this) Cheers Iain Edited September 14, 2009 by Big 'D'

Also as I work and am in Charge on sundays mini meets and monthly meets is a no pretty much now to Christmas. And I miss going to both Was away for the photo shoot which i was really p***ed off about. Japfest I missed out on getting organised with as i was away on holiday. As was chance of getting you ( Iain ) to look at my car Overall I love everything but never seem to be able to be free. Maybe as Ed says ill get time to join in, cos I really really miss it all and miss the sound of the group of us blasting the mini meet or turning up at the harvester. Maybe a mass Xmas meet and another bash at 10pin bowling Andy

All of a sudden I feel a huge urge for a week-night mini meet!

Big 'D' Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 THURSDAY?????? mid week meet, sounds like a plan...... What and chav it up with the locals in Witney Cheers Iain
stum450n Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Sod it, why not eh! Sounds like a plan! Where are you thinking of Matty? Iain, I'll be sure to wear my best tracksuit and burberry cap just for you!
stum450n Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Well if Iain wants to 'get his chav on' we could always go sit in McDonalds car park revving the cars for an hour or two! Meeting somewhere like The Windrush on the Burford Rd could work though, especially if anyone's looking to go for a run through the twistie bits?
stum450n Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I won't be back from work until at least 7, maybe half past
Big 'D' Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 I'm happy with that. Anyone else? I'm in too, just be aware the local PD have been very interested in cars recently so lets try not attract attention to ourselves Cheers Iain
myles Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 My mrs gets back from jazzercise of all things, at 7.30 so I will try and make it out of the house by 7.45 ish. Expect me for 8. Where the hell is the Windrush, by the way. I dont know if you got the message last night on the chat thingy, Iain, but I have been granted a day pass on Sun 4 Oct, so me and possibly my boy will be up for the Japshow |Finale as well.
