ally-b
... A motorbike actually (surprise-surprise ) I know everything is the the same regarding road tax etc - although MOT is required there after 4 years rather than 3 here (bike is 2008 so that doesn't matter ... yet ) It's just the reg. no. Do I have to change it to a 'mainland UK' number ? I reckon the N.I. plate will de-value the bike over here , can I change to private reg OK or age-related UK plate or what ? Thanks in advance, Al Edited September 10, 2009 by ally-b Link to comment
thefastone
I'm pretty sure that you would need to register it here... as its pretty much the same for any foreign vehicle...? isn't it a different agency that registers them over there? ie: not the DVLA... Link to comment
st3ph3n
Ally - as far as I know you just need to register the vehicle with our DVLA (they have a slighlty different one there, but it's straightforward). You can if you want get a "mainland" plate put on for free. Apparently if you get the other on retention they can make a few notes on ebay if you're lucky. Link to comment
StewartyBoy
I nearly bought an Irish registered car before. Was a 99 but due to registration change in the Uk in 2002 it had a 52 plate on it. I reckon it's up to you if you want to swap it over. Link to comment
