Classic 4-door 2-door Question

Recommended Posts

The mounting position on the floor is the same as the 4dr, the problem is arising from the fact that in the 2dr, the main hoop follows the B pillar, whereas obviously the 4dr doesn't, and where in the 2dr the B pillar meets the roof, there is extra strengthening that isn't there on the 4dr and thats what's causing the problem.

We can work round it if need be, just need to know 100% that this is definately the correct cage, as there should definately not be this problem.

The Custom cages offering is the same for the 2dr and the 4dr in the respect that all the important tubes are the same. The 4dr kit has a couple of extra wee plates to strengthen the B piller that the 2dr doesn't have.

If you think a weld in cage is gonna be 100% accurate and just drop in without a little/lot of fettling, you are dreaming :D

John, we never expected it to just drop in, but considering the problem that we encountered wouldn't be had in the 4dr all we wanted was clarification that there wasn't some minor differences in the main hoop between the 4 and 2dr version.

And since there isn't, we are happy now to progress on with it and do the work to make it fit.

Why try and make a square peg fit a round hole if there is a round peg to fit it :)
