Ta Muchly (it does look nicer lower though) Simboy Sounds like drop links - had a similar noise under same circumstances on my classic and new droplinks solved it. If you can get it up on a ramp and get a bar in you can usually see a bit of play in them if they are making that noise.
notsosmall Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Yeah sounds like droplinks, i just changed mine because they were knocking seems strange that you only noticed it after the springs were fitted though!?!
kinghorn Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 lol, something is loose, id get the car up in the air and check the tightness of every bolt before spending cash on somin you prob dont need
Subarstar Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 As above, I wouldn't be surprised if something hasn't been tightened properly. Had the same thing on one of our cars recently. A couple of turns with a spanner and all was well.
simboy73 Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 As soon as i got home lastnight i took the wheels off and tightened the struts - top and bottom and nothing was loose, all was fine.. Although i did look at the original drop links and the rubbers or bushes look like they maybe have had it, but still it wasn't knocking before.. So what are drop links gonna cost.. Is it something i could doo myself.? I am not looking for all singing all damcing track day stuff, just something to take the knock away. Simboy
StewartyBoy Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Droplinks are one of the easier things to do mate. I would take it back to the garage first though mate, make sure its something they havent missed.
frank c Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Take it back to whoever fitted the springs for a look ?
mystery machine Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Take it back to whoever fitted the springs for a look ? Absolutely.
simboy73 Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Defo - i have it booked in for tomorrow.. Cheers for all the advice - comments.. Si
cusco kid Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 hi m8 if there was no knock before ,check the strut top nuts ,req nipped up. if knock comes just as the load comes off the suspension its loose nuts on the top mounts .its too easy to blame the d/links hope this helps geo gp motorsport
barry_shepherd Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I had that problem on mine.......turns out a garage had put the springs on upside down......somehow!! Cheers, Shep
