dooahhdoo Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Right, car is back on Island Sunday night now barring something phenominal happening (William Hill have it odds on favourite) LOL. It needs to go in the bodyshop to have some work done on it to repair the dents and scratches, and to touch up a few bits here and there. After that I am going to need some help in fitting my gauges. Electrical oil temp/pressure and mechanical boost. Any takers for assistance and any ideas how long it will take? Oh and I also need to change the shocks all round too but I may just do that one Afternoon
CustomScoobyIOM Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Love to help mate but over here Sensor locations I can tell you though Plug behind the alternator is a bit of a bitch to get to as you have to take the alternator out to get to it
dooahhdoo Posted March 9, 2004 Author Posted March 9, 2004 cool, any other tips? I was thinking of asking that bloke erm whats his name? He lives in Patrick? Defi Dave LOL I know he knows how to tweak stuff PMSL
CustomScoobyIOM Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Defi Dave wil know how to!! Ill get some photos where to tap. Heard Neil is quite good with the behind dash wiring too!
dooahhdoo Posted March 9, 2004 Author Posted March 9, 2004 Who? You mean old Blow off BA ? Yeah, I can see an A Team reunion coming on here.
Boxer23 Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 The A-Team will soon be back, ma nigga! Dave is a great help for sorting gauges etc.
Dave K Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 No probs Nick did the lot meself, so know all mounting points. Boost is easy, Oil Temp is hard one have to have adapter to put in block above No.3 cylinder. Oil Pressure not to bad. But this will depend on what type of sensors your guages have. Defi sensors are fairly compact. And major need for this job is PTFE tap, which I have. But not back on island till 22nd dude. Just give us a shout when and i'll help.
Dave K Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 << Plug behind the alternator is a bit of a bitch to get to as you have to take the alternator out to get to it >> Did'nt with mine, he he. Forgot to say to do proper job your talking 3-4 hours. Cos you dont want to rush the job when your taking blanking plugs out of the block wall.
paul n Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Nick, Hope all goes well and your soon back on the road Paul
dooahhdoo Posted March 10, 2004 Author Posted March 10, 2004 Thanks Paul. Appreciated. Been long enough now so I am chomping on the bit so to speak. Just need to learn to keep my foot off the heavy pedal so next time it wont be so much of an expensive lesson for me! Shame I wont be passing by your way on Sunday (I may do though as I can get lost quite easily when you have more than 1 lane!). Need to remember North is up and South is down LOL.
paul n Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 If you get badly lost just call in for a cuppa Paul

But yeah 3-4 hours really for the Defis. Mine came with the plugs to screw directly in so while the heads were off it was quick and easy
RB5_IOM Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 I am getting 3 gauges in a centre pod. Who on the island can fit them??
Dave K Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Garage wise dont know, best bet be South Coast, see Paul. As I did mine meself not that bad a job depending on which quages you have, ie mech or electrical.
Boxer23 Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Do South Coast do stuff like fitting gauges? Thought they worked more on mechanics, servicing, repairs etc.
CustomScoobyIOM Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 South Coast will do anything. Do it yourself though
Dave K Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 If your paying anyone will do anything for the right price. But it will cost you.
RB5_IOM Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 South Coast service the car for me. Didn't think they liked fitting gauges etc. I also have a Blitz turbo timer to installer. How easy is it to connect it to the ignition?? Don't want to be paying through the roof prices.............

So will let you know how it went on Sunday. Plus no doubt I will be fitting boxer23's for him.
RB5_IOM Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Will have to pop down and see how you have got on with it.
