rallyfever Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Hi All, Been looking for a classic for a wee while now and have come across this one, any thoughts and do you think it's worth the £8,500 asking price? And the wording on the ad is like this; HERE WE HAVE ANOTHER HAND PICKED EXAMPLE OF A P1 - ONLY A 1000 EVER PRODUCED AND GETTING HARDER TO FIND GOOD ONES NOW. This particular example comes with the Prodrive big brake upgrade, Prodrive boot mat, P1 lamp covers, 18" Compomotive alloy wheels, morrette quad headlamp conversion, a full Powerflow stainless steel exhaust (only fitted last year at a cost of over £1050!), induction kit and a H.K.S sequential blow off valve. Standard specification includes electric windows, air conditioning, electric mirrors, superb half alcantara seats, rear wiper, unique to the P1 rear spoiler and front splitter, quick steering rack, short shift gearbox, Cat 1 alarm and an RAC trackstar tracker. 2 sets of keys and only 3 former keepers. Alpine head unit withunderseat multi CD. This particular example comes with a service history showing a cambelt change at 42k miles and long tax and test. Available with all usual dealer facilities. All our cars are H.P.I clear and come with print to prove. This car has been fully inspected. Any items that need attention are addressed and the price includes a warranty and full valet prior to delivery. Cheers Gary Edited May 16, 2009 by rallyfever
stuarted Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) if it's got an induction kit i'd want proof that it had been mapped to suit. Can't see the details on the work PC. Where is the car located and do you know the build no? I can put a post on the P1woc and try and find the cars history Edited May 13, 2009 by stuarted

I can put a post on the P1woc and try and find the cars history Hi Fella, The car is based at Wigan Sports and Prestige, not sure if it's been re-mapped and a good shout if it's not. Haven't called them yet to find out the build number. E-mailed about 5 mins ago and will post their reply here. Would appreciate some info on the car if you can get it though. rallyfever Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 Hi gary, the one on here for sale no 46 i think looks awesome! Id go for that one! Hi Jon, Cheers for that fella, I have e-mailed the guy and he is gonna send me the build number tomorrow, hopefully this will confirm what you think and we can take it from there. Not too sure about the twin headlights - but can see what they look like and change them if I don't like them. Cheers Gary
colin_ross Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Loooooads of P1's have had engine rebuilds so ask if it's had one done and if so who did it and to what spec. I think they are great cars but they did have a few faults (like my own) that you have to be aware of. As long as you know how to run one they're great cars.
scoobzie Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 this one has been rebuilt low miles fsh . http://pistonheads.com/sales/1032806.htm

Cheers Gary
scoobzie Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 a few were with crank failure m8 and some were oil pump, maf sensor they are prone to fail on this model
dan_jess Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Looks a decent car for the price. If anything goes wrong stick a 2.5 in there! Its missing the plaque from the centre console, annoys me when people lift these off!
cruz104 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Right Gary Get it bought today and get it to the Clark next week Good luck with the car pal I am sure you will buy a cracker.
colin_ross Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 What were the common faults fella?Cheers Gary Bottom end rattles are usually the last thing you hear before a rebuild so listen to it very closely. Other prblems that can lead up to that are, in no particular order a habit of eating mafs oil pump failure det - many potential causes of this one but IMHO it's down to an ecu that was never meant to be run in the UK combined with the degredation of the fuel brockets Retaining nut on 5th gear is prone to working loose on the phase 2 box as well but that's not a P1 only habit, any phase 2 box can suffer it
rallyfever Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 Right GaryGet it bought today and get it to the Clark next week Good luck with the car pal I am sure you will buy a cracker. Hi John, Wish I could buddy, have to wait on the old redundancy money to come through, should be start of June me thinks!!! If you see another classic that you think I may like, give me a shout fella. Cheers Gary

Its missing the plaque from the centre console, annoys me when people lift these off! The plaques weren't standard Dan, various group buys on the P1woc sorted them. Think they were standard in RB5's
stuarted Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 message on P1woc to see if anyone knows the car or used to own it
stuarted Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 message on P1woc to see if anyone knows the car or used to own it From p1woc This P1 came from Kent, i have veiwed & driven this car & it is totaly origional. It was PX in for a porky pig & the guy doing the deal had first dibs on it, but his missus was not impressed lol, anyway he wanted £10000 for it but it looks like he just shifted it through his contacts in the motor trade. Pistonheads show it sold

shibby! Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Looks nice mate! As been said before, if it goes pop launch in a 2.5! Nick
gordi82 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 This one is a minter I looked at the car a few months ago and wanted it for stock. Its def worth a look. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/958091.htm Dont miss out Gordon
dan_jess Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Cheers for clearing that up stuarted, every one ive seen has had a plaque so i just thought they were standard issue, like the terzo, rb5, think the catalunya and McRae have them aswell. Wonder why they werent standard on the P1. I liked having the build number on the Terzo
dan_jess Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 rallyfever- if you do buy the car, please change the wheels, those wheels just look wrong on a P1, i would even help you get rid of them if you want
rallyfever Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 rallyfever- if you do buy the car, please change the wheels, those wheels just look wrong on a P1, i would even help you get rid of them if you want Hi Dan, Strange as it may seem, I quite like them - I do like to be a wee bit different now and again, may change the colour of them, but the wheels I feel are to my taste. The lights on the other hand I think I would need to change. Cheers Gary

Cheers Gary i agree with you about both, think the wheels suit the car and i prefer the p1 with standard headlights... on another note, there is a p1 in the autotrader for £5500 based in coatbridge, seems a cheap car although not sure why its so cheap.... scott

stuarted Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 (edited) Cheers fella,Much appreciated for the info, so with that in mind do you reckon it's a good buy? Gary It seems a nice enough motor TBH. Lights easily changed as you say if they're not you're cup of tea. There are quite a few for sale on the P1woc if it's definitely a P1 you're looking for. Theres one with a 2.5 done by Scoobyclinic and a full respray. Guy spent 15-16K on the work and he's asking what it should be sold for, someone has told him £11 dropping to £10k. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1038492.htm. A lot of kit for the money if he did sell at the £10K and no need to worry about a rebuild. Not a fan of the big scoop but easily removed. theres this one for £7500 too http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1021625.htm Decisions decisions DanTerzo - no idea why they never came with a plaque when most of the other limited runs did. The group buys pop up every now and again so keep your eye on the P1 forum Stuart Edited May 14, 2009 by stuarted
