empty_heed Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 was down at silverstone at the weekend, i won the experience a few months ago in an auction for spinal injuries scotland. got passes to go in the pits & hospitality at the gt racing. should have been observing the scuderia eccosse team as they organised the experience but as they didn't enter this year to work on development for next year they set me & a friend up with being looked after by gigawave motorsport who work with the nissan nismo team. was brilliant the team were on the go non stop & although they were racing for developement reasons too & not points. it's amazing what goes on behind the scenes for their tasty gtr. got to meet the drivers go on the grid & pretty much have free roam of the place even got a lift from the car park to the pits in a nissan golf buggy ran on racing fuel. didn't get to many pics of the gtr, the cars were way faster than my camera. should have some pics of the car being sent to me from the teams media man. i'll post them up when i get them. best sounding car of the weekend was a morgans somethin. best looking car on the track was the gtr. all in all a pretty good weekend so many nice cars. saw bucks scoobies with a wee stand but not as impressive as scottish scoobies & felt a bit akward when they said they were all ex sidc http://www.gigawavemotorsport.com/
ANDYJDMSTI Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Great pics. The GTROC had a stand in the supercar area right between Porsche and Corvette ( coincidence? ). The guys also got to nosey round the Gigawave pit area too................aaaaaaaarrrrgh and i forgot about it!!!!

I was playing at Pits / Fire marshal on Fri / Sat but a bit further down from the Nissan garage - I was usually opposite the no 4 car - the yellow corvette. Amazing how much does go on behind the scenes, presumably you got to watch several screens of data zipping along in front of you - those French Morgans were clocking over 260k in the first speed trap. Hairydj - yeah their was aloot of data things going on. the technolgy the team had was facsinating. they had some hi tech looking gadgets in the hotel lobby too. was in the same hotel as half the press & other motoring sorts. the squiggle - and even with all them cars to look at i was still thinking i wonder whats happening in skye

Looked like a good weekend! wouldn't have minded having a look round those GTRs, but its ok, because it was MORE than made up by the highland runcoupled with looking round Andy's GTR!!! saw bucks scoobies with a wee stand but not as impressive as scottish scoobies & felt a bit akward when they said they were all ex sidc Weah, Wimpy started it and took a lot of members with him... Dont know all the ins and outs of it all, but was not not great what happened...
