Depending on what your plans are for the car it may be quite pointless. It can cause problems with your MAF sensor, and can also suffer badly from the heat underneath the bonnet (depending what kind you get/where it is located) because hot air = less dense air = less power...

If it goes on ok then you might get a bit more top end power. Some people think that the car should be mapped when you fit an induction kit and it's maybe a good idea. I wouldn't fit one now without having the car mapped again at the same time to ensure both maximum gains from the filter, and protection for the engine and turbo..

I could be wrong though.... :rotfl:

I would tend to agree with all of the above, stick with a panel filter or if you do decide to buy an open cone the best option would be to modify the wheel arch skin and get the cone out in the arch, away from the heat of the engine bay.

After reading either banzai or jap performance this month they talk about the new AEM intakes for the EVO and new hatch impreza.

The hatch impreza basicly has the same engine as the newage 2.5 cars?? if so the new AEM intake said they had a BHP improvement of something like 24BHP it might be even more i cant remember but it wasnt even a totaly enclosed filter like the new EVO one??

I would like to know wheather to go for a green panel filter or an induction kit. I like the idea of a panel as you have no heat soak issues but i love the fact that an induction kit gives you added turbo sound

Think youve answered your own question mate. Bit of a trade-off really if not re-routing the open cone.

That will give you some extra turbo sound! There is a good whoosh of air as the turbo is spooling up and working, and you can hear the standard dump valve as well.

You can choose to buy the delete elbow to put in it's place or just leave it open, as the filter intake sits very close to the hole in the wing. Alternatively chop the bottom off the resonator box and put the elbow back in place, either modified to be sealed again, or with a hole in the bottom (as I am doing because I also have a cold air intake in the bumper).. It seems to be worth removing anyway.

Don't know if anyone in the UK is doing them. Just remove your old one, chop off the bottom and patch over/seal the hole where you chopped it! Problem solved and would be pretty easy to do. :D
