Dilemma

To cut a very long boring story short I have heard of a WR1 with lowish miles that might be for sale soon and for what seems like a decent price. I can't decide whether to ignore it or go for it ??

I've not really properly made it along to any meets (the Glasgow BBQ run last July didn't really count!) so none of you have ever seen my car but like many I have spent WAAAAY too much time and money on it (styling/wheels/springs/etc etc) - and rediculous time and effort keeping it looking as best I can. Mechanically I know it is spot on and I have just up'd the power to 280bhp. So I basically know my car has been looked after and should serve me well in future.

Is the WR1 a good special edition ? Don't know a whole lot about it other than 320bhp standard and very STi looking in a one off colour.

The wife said "no way", then I showed her a pic of a similar one and she said "oh that does look nice" - no help from there then !!

Thoughts ?

If you have the chance, do it if only to keep one of the nicest ever imprezas in fine fettled form... There are too few to let them get smashed up by chavs!

If you need to borrow to do it then don't !

If you have the cash to swop over then do it - very different cars but if you added a VF35 turbo and Sti8 TMIC then you'd easily match the pace of a Wr1

DCCD gearbox wins it for me though. Better brakes and suspension plus 6 speed box.

In fact - just do it !

The Wr1 is a great car and will always keep it price good. Only 500 were made def worth the money. I just handed one over today. It was the only one in a subaru dealer in the uk. Could have sold it 100 times over so you would need to act fast. Good luck if you buy it you wont regret it

The WR1 is a nice Special Edition, check it over well then take it from there mate. As long as your getting a fair price for your car go for it.

Would have to say go for it, but only if you're going to leave it pretty much standard as when you start mucking about with the special editions it can really affect their resale value.
