ciaranrb5 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 It is of a higher octane value than petrol and there fore more combustable. Basically it is an octane booster. It is more efficient than petrol but can only be part mixed due to ......??????
scoobymark Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 methanol + Octane Booster + Andy F remap = FAST
wilky Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Adding methanol will increase the cars ability to run more ignition advance hence more power. The better the octane the more advance can be run.
fai17 Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 methanol + Octane Booster + Andy F remap = FAST + a big whoooser =
braveheart Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Hi i am running 10% methanol and will change soon on my next mod session, it also keeps the engine cooler, the downsides ive been told is it is very corrosive im sure there is alot of people with some better knowledge, and trust me it does give the car that extra kick.... Chris
camcq Posted March 21, 2009 Author Posted March 21, 2009 so for more fun a remap and some meth should do the trick. ive been using octane boosters as its easy to get where would i get some methanol as i aint using ebay

cammy Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 how does this compare in price to using octane booster?
Hightower Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 its also great for removing/preventing hydrates we use it offshore
stuarted Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 how does this compare in price to using octane booster? 79p a litre for methanol!
camcq Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 79p a litre for methanol! seems a better deal to me on the price
paul555sti Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Whats E85? Its bioethanol. Here is a thread from scoobynet about it ... http://bbs.scoobynet.com/general-technical...l?highlight=e85
TrackScotland Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 We have a map in the Skyline (only 20% mix for now.....) - will maybe see what gains 40-50% give when the next mapping is done.
stuarted Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 sounds interesting indeed. I'm not mapped for methanol as had issues sourcing in the past so stick to around 10% with some NF. Can I use bioethanol in the same way without the car being mapped for it?
john mac Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Like said already,Methanol is a Big bang for yer buck, big gains to be had, but on a serious note , it is very toxic and dangerous and should be handled with extreme care.
