Alloys Flaking Is This Covered Under Warranty

Recommended Posts

Noticed today that my alloys are starting to flake on the edges and was wondering if this would be covered by the warranty? It is not due to kerbing and one wheel is quite bad. Car is a 56 plate hawkeye STI.

cheers

Should be mate. I got a couple of wheels changed on my Celica at its first service when the coating on the wheels started bubbling. Let us know how you get on.

Mandy's Merc is getting 4 new alloys due to bubbling, Warrant rep took photos yesterday phoned today to say the were ordering a full new set and nuts.

Try the dealer first if no luck photos and a letter to UK warranty dept.

This also happened to the wifes A Class a few years ago. Started with the nuts about 6 months from new then spread to the wheels. If you don`t ask you don`t get. Picked up the new Zetec S the other day, looked over it with a fine tooth comb and found a stone chip on the rear quarter. Told the salesman and to my astonishment he sent out a boy with a 5 litre tin of T Cut! I managed to get the first service free for my concern/complaint.

Hi Chris,

We had the same prob with the wife's Scoob, wheels bubbled up (no kerbing either). Queried this with Nobles and after a few photos of the wheels and front end? (taken by Nobles) a new set of alloys were ordered and replaced without question.

Good Luck.

edited due to not wanting to be seen as publicly slating a company.

I had no joy with the dealer i went to see and will therefore be dealing with another well known garage on here as they seem to be more helpful.

rather than a public slating of any supplier/service have you spoken direct to the dealer principal himself or was it the service lassie?

Usually gets a better response next time you need anything from your dealer.

Only my opinion.

Will be trying the same route as mine are flaking a tad too, feck knows how its never out to play these days!!!

Ive had 3 sets since i got mine brand new (56 Plate) , 3rd set is also bubbling in exact same position around centre cap, so I will be getting them put in for another set soon.

As folk have said no problems, dealer was excellent , took photo's and warranty claim was passed no probs ( S&S Ayr )

Scoob was in for an oil change at S&S and asked Lorna to look at the wheels to see if i had a case, she gladly advised the process, took pictures and said they will get back to me later in the week. She called today to advise that Subaru UK have authorsied 4 brand new alloys under warranty.

Top marks go to S&S again for great service and even better customer communication.

Just goes to show if you approach people the right way you generally are treated the same way.

Shiny wheels coming soon ( tried to get PFF7s but Lorna said politely no )

Davie

Oh and i got a new battery under warranty too.

Just to add, I phoned Subaru UK to see where I stand as the alloys are only lasting around 8k miles before needing replaced. They said that as long as the car is within warranty then all I can do is continue to claim on it and they would be replaced. After the 3 years then thats it no more.

Thought I would chance my arm and asked if they would be prepared to offer alternative alloys and I would make up the cost difference rather than continually replacing the originals but no luck, warranty claims have to be replaced with same part, worth a try :o

got all 4 alloys replaced today whilst the car was in for a service at S&S. Would like to thank Lorna for all her help. It was the 30k serivec and the car feels a lot better after it. The wheels are a lighter gold colour which is weird but will end up getting them powder coated so not that bothered. Would also like to say thanks for the SIDC discount on my service which Lorna gave me which was a bot of a surprise but a welcome surpirse. also got the seat fixed as it was clunking a bit.

Thanks S&S.

Well things took a turn for the better for some reason as Lorna contacted me regarding the photos and was a lot more helpful.

I have just received a call from my dealer (A F Noble) after submitting a warranty claim for the flaking paint around the centre cap and blistering on all 4 wheels and was very disappointed to be told that my claim will be rejected with no explanation from Subaru.

Has anyone had any experience like this ? Looks like I might have a fight on my hands, I did expect better service from Subaru though as even the dealer knows this is an on going problem.

I have a 56 plate Impreza 2.0 R Sport.

Thanks

I got mine replaced under warranty two weeks ago at Grieves,

Charlie photographed the flaking wheels & sent off a warranty claim to Subaru, got them changed the following week.

Dunc at Hypertech is waiting on replacements as well due to flaking.

I have also had all 4 replaced under warranty by S&S 07 plate Hawkeye as well as the two rear struts (knocking) and the battery and must say cannot ask for a better service from anyone.
