HairyDJ Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I spy a scooby owner - IJSEMT (Ian from Goodwood) was "Mr Startline" this year - great shot of his green armband behind the flag in photo 046
granby Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 How was it then? Any stand out moments? C'mon Granby write us a report! Highlights i suppose was the F1 cars going around Wembley, fantastic noise although the Ford Focus WRC cars sounded great with the anti-lag Didn't get a pic but Lewis Hamilton managed to set fire to the rear brakes on the Mclaren SLR he was driving about What did surprise me was what a good reception Michael Schumacher got everytime he came into the arena, all the GB drivers of cause got a great reception and Jenson Button was still wearing his Honda stuff ,David Coulthard almost became champion only to be beaten in the 3rd race of the final by Sebastien Loeb It was a shame the race between Lewis & Hoy didn't take place but the track was very slippery and it would of been dangerous for Hoy on his bike, the track didn't get any real grip until late afternoon once some rubber got laid down, they stopped the celebrity races which were first as they smashed 4 Fiat Abarth 500's in the first 2 races

marky9074 Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I put a fiver on Loeb at 8 to 1 before I went in too...
fudge Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Looked good fun. That show must cost a fortune to set up and dismantle.

bockett Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Would this be him, found the pic on Scoobynet Yeah that's him. I'll email him the link now
ijsemt Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Sussed me, thought no one would notice, especially with the Michael Jackson gloves and tinted specs. Yes my second year on the startline, been there for four and a half days, the Mitsy did a complete circuit on two wheels. Might add that I worked so hard that after the heavy rain on SaturdayI went to the Quo gig supported by Manfred man, after a full blown sit down chinky meal. It had to be done, needed to dry out. Once again i met some very great drivers and celebraties...........for those of you that do not know the roof does not close, it has a eyebrow system which does not prevent the rain coming in hence on the practise day we nearly ran out of cars.....lots of slipperrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry action. I did comute Wed, Thur and friday to Wembley in my mota then those of you that passed the Wembley travelodge may have seen it parked out the front, cheapo parking for £5.00 a day, just down the road from the Ace Cafe, ever thought of a meet there for a gut buster? Thanks Ben for the link and DJ for pointing me out........I even appeared on Sky TV, there was some joke about wide angle lenses going around. Even spoke to the girls in red about getting their Pom Poms out.........not impressed. IJS

granby Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 Why how much was it? Are you sitting down, i was in the front block just behind the start/finish line and they were £110 , to be honest if i went again i'd go for some of the cheaper seats as you would still be able to see everything
marky9074 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I was in the £75 seats just before the last bend at the top of the bottom tier.... I think you had pretty good seats Ian, after all most of the stuff happened there, with a couple of things at the bridge... I wonder how much the seats were at the top though at the start/stop... 'tho it looked pretty crowded up there..
