scoobysailor Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I need to replace my front discs and pads. I currently have Mintex extreme discs and pads and am happy how they perform. Does anyone have any other recomendations? After my next round of mods (just about to be fitted) I will be looking at around 300BHp, the car is a daily driver used mainly on the road. Cheers for any info, Fraser
scooby222 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 i would say if your happy with them stick with them mate. only other option worth considering for 300hp now is bigger calipers and discs- but they cost!
pmacFTO Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 (edited) Mine is the same, daily driver, 300bhp - I just got Godspeed discs and Mintex Extreme - I had Mintex 1144 (or is it 1155?) on b4 but was advised these Extreme would be better. Not got them fitted yet but it's on my to-do list If I had a bit extra cash I would have got the Ferrodo DS2500 - had them on the FTO and they were amazing - now I find out you can get them for the scooby! Def worth a look and you will notice some difference. Edited November 18, 2008 by pmacFTO
StrikE Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I am running Tarox sports Japan discs with Mintex 1155 pads on the front, they seem not bad!! Braided hoses too, the looks of things the DS2500 gets the thumbs up from everyone but cost a bit more, get what you pay for i suppose
bobbyc Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 (edited) Fraser I fitted DBA discs all round with mintex 1155 pads to my last two scoobs & they were the biz, cost about £800 all round for the fixed rotors, free fitting at Duncs, if it's not for track use don't go overboard, would probabaly fit them again once I burn the standard ones out Bobby Edited November 19, 2008 by bobbyc
stuarted Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 DS 2500. Yep, can't go wrong there. Quite messy on the wheels but small price to pay for the stopping power
Rednosespeccltd Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I have Performance friction Discs and carbon pads, braided hoses and good quality brake fluid, awesome stopping power. Only downside is that the brake dust is quite bad. was about £500 all in on a GB on scoobynet
Guest CRAIG D Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Exaclty what iv just bought so hopfully il be able to aree with you on the stopping power

Have got the same set-up and they are awsome. Lot less brake dust than the the DS2500 which I had previously. Edited November 20, 2008 by ali37
irn_bru Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Had DS2500 fitted for one week now. More than happy with the stopping power and dont find them any more dusty than the brembos that were fitted previously. Colin.
scoobysailor Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Just ordered a set of Tarox sport Japan discs and Mintex extreme pads....... I would have got the DS2500's if I didn't have to shell out for some other things as well.

They must be bad then, because the PF Carbon ones have ruined my wheels with brake dust, however a lot of it is down to me not cleaning them regularly, lol Mac
