bigal024 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Right guys, the car is due its first service. Have Narrowed it down to Either Aird Motors in Beauly, Auto-Ecosse In Dundee, or John R Weir in Perth. Either way its gonna be a fooking long drive from Lossiemouth! Anyone had any dealings with these places, and whats the likely cost? £200ish? Cheers P.S - Would be interested to hear if anyone has used Autoecosse especially, seeing as they have just got the franchise. Also, any of the Dundee/Tayside lads approached them about SIDC discount etc? Al
scooby222 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Al have a word with Andy at awd, theyl use the genuine filters and keep your warranty and give you twice the service at half the price. il never go back to a dealers but i did have warranty work done after they serviced it with no probs. and dont forget the sidc discount!!
bigal024 Posted November 6, 2008 Author Posted November 6, 2008 Yeah, have used AWD in the past guys, but the car was'nt split new. I'm just of the thinking that I'd be better off using main dealers for the first 3 years before I punt the car. If the car was over 3 years old, I wouldnt think twice about taking it to AWD or Hypertech, as I know they are top places, and know their stuff.
scooby222 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 well mine was 18 months when it started going to awd but if your dead set on a main dealer i wouldnt touch john weir with a long barge pole, euan 'l back me up i think. dont think too much of aird either but they may have improved and dont get me started on cupar!. to be honest about the only one id go to would be nobles in penicuik.
scoobyseller555 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 what about Ian Grieves in Falkirk???since we supplied you with your Isuzu aswell Gav
scoobykev Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) I haven't used Auto ecosse but haven't heard anything good about them and don't know anyone who intends using them. They spamed me when they first opened (i assume they got the details from here as i think a few R.O's got it too) to offer various discounts. Not sure if their still available though. And there is a few folk on here that have strong opinions on the guy who is running the operation Edited November 6, 2008 by scoobykev
cruz104 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 A F Noble are really great, really friendly, lovely garage and really clued up, would not look past them to be honest, I have used them for many years and they are excellent. They will even wash your car too lol
scooby222 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 sorry Gav meant to mention you as well! Kev,who's running the operation there? havent heard but got the email too-and texts!
bigal024 Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Cheers for the replies guys. Falkirk/Stirling and Glasgow are probably too far for me to travel. Anyone used Town and County since they dropped the franchise? And does the SIDC discount still apply there?
bigal024 Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 well mine was 18 months when it started going to awd but if your dead set on a main dealer i wouldnt touch john weir with a long barge pole, euan 'l back me up i think. dont think too much of aird either but they may have improved and dont get me started on cupar!. to be honest about the only one id go to would be nobles in penicuik. What happened with Weir Dave? I'm not taking it to Cupar.
thefastone Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Yes Al, the Discount is still there at T&C as long as you show your card! Ive been in since they stopped, and to be honest nothing really had changed... they were just waiting to have the Suabru stock picked up then, so I dont know what the place is like now...
thefastone Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I also Hear that S&S Ayr are very much worth the journey...
bigal024 Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 I also Hear that S&S Ayr are very much worth the journey... Aye but it'll be due its next service by the time I get back!
man-with-men Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 have you tried the 10,000 mile service shop?
scoobykev Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I'm not taking it to Cupar. Any particular reason why?
mystery machine Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Re: Cupar Do you think that anyone in the history of motoring has driven from one end of Cupar to the other, averaging more than 10 metres per minute? What a wee whore of a place...
