the squiggle Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Hello all, Just bought my first scooby last month. A 94 JDM WRX. Any info please on a decent nearby garage / mechanic for me. I'm in Lanark and have a nice oil leak dripping onto my exhaust manifold! Any help greatly appreciated John Welcome The oil leak will be coming from the rocker cover gasket. Good news its not a big job and the bad news is its a fiddly job. Garage wise, any competent place will be able to do the job but i am sure that someone local will pop in with a suggestion. Keep an eye out for a DHL van doing the rounds, that will be me gawping back at you
big j Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 Thanks people, Yeah Squiggle, Strike has mentioned your van Do you ever drop stuff off to sabre in Lanark m8? J
st3ph3n Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 J - your nearest specialist might be Extreme in Whitburn. Welcome too.
scoobysailor Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Welcome mate, I'm not far from you - I live in Carnwath. You can't go wrong with Hypertech as far as garages go.......it's a bit of a trek but worth the drive. I'm in Lanark all the time so give me a wave if you see a mica red bugeye Fraser

Spaceman Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Welcome mate How about changing it yourself i done mine with no hassles, Just take your time there not that much to it really just buy a rocker cover gasket and get it done, There are plenty of folk on here that could help you out if you got stuck all you need is a half decent socket set. hth Greig P.S very satisfying once done aswell and much cheapness.
StrikE Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Thanks people, Yeah Squiggle, Strike has mentioned your van Do you ever drop stuff off to sabre in Lanark m8?J Yup very nice guy mr squiggle.............. just dont try and pinch his prodrive cap

mystery machine Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Hi there, and welcome to the forum Ah, Carnwath........ gateway to the borders . Actually, your home town has fond Scooby memories for me, from all the way back on a sunny day in August when I took my first and present Scooby for its first proper long-distance blast. It's also the first place I received a wave from a fellow Scooby driver - a blue Blobeye if I remember correctly. Happy days. Good luck with that rocker cover gasket. Last time I personally changed one of those was on an I4, and it was a piece of p1sh, but I could well imagine the tight-fitting, sideways facing, boxer layout would make it a more fiddly job...
big j Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 Thanks for the welcome & advice guys, I'll get the tool box hauled out J
