4Hero Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 From their site "We have a noise limit of 105db(A). The noise reading is measured statically at 0.5 metres at 3/4 revs." Not sure if this will affect anyone here.
sti pretender Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Anyone got a decibel meter, bit of a bummer considering your on top of a hill in the middle of nowhere.

I see from the link, it's for Top Marque events. Not sure how it will affect JohnS SIDC or Track Scotland events. David
DR Motosport Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 With all the houses that surround the circuit they must have been getting sackloads of complaints about all the noise. It's in the middle of nowhere, what are they playing at.
mystery machine Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I'm no fan of loud exhausts on public roads - when I hear them going past my house I want to reach inside their windows and rip their good-for-nuthin' shielded-by-Burberry eyes from their too-close-together sockets. HOWEVER - surely just about anything should be good to go on a race track? Freakin' H&S, I'll bet...
RS Grant Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 This is a bad thing and I think that a lot of people will fail these tests, not just Subaru owners but there are LOTS of different makes which tend to be loud as fook once you stick an exhaust system on. How do they rule against cars that are running big boost with ext. wastegates and screamer pipes, surely a screamer pipe is putting out pretty severe dB but wont show up if you're just revving it standing still as its designed to operate under load. Unless they're going to monitor it constantly throughout the trackday at a set point on the circuit and black flag 'offenders' with loud cars, this is flawed rule. Cheers, Grant
corsa Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I got a digital noisemeter if anyone wants a test to be sure to be sure. Only a fiver a go I always thought it was 0.5mtrs away at a 45 degree angle holding the revs at 4K, correct me if i is wrong. Davie.
colin_ross Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Yes please Davie, first dibs on a go of the Db meter. A fiver sounds about right but you can pay me more if you really want.

Now officer, if you wouldn't mind placing your head inside the tailpipe, you'll find that the noise levels really are quite muted...
