micra_wrc Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 (edited) some behind the scenes drama over the weekend... 1/ Grant's rear brakes gave up the ghost on Sat just as we arrived into Banbury. shoot, the bomber is out of action for Sunday, lets use my RA for the convoy and we'll sort out the brakes before we head up the road thats no problem if you know someone in Prodrive that will be able to give us a hand....... this is the place then lets jack it up and get the tools out getting hands dirty... well you seem to know what you're doing, I'll just have a wee seat and watch you then! thanks to Jackie for sourcing rear pads and discs - they were hand delivered within 20 minutes of ordering thanks to Cutter for fitting - he happened to drop into his pals place for a cuppa and a blether when we got there thanks to Karl Allen for providing the space and the easy-up when it started to rain. its like having your own service area lol 2/ pregnant woman at Warwick - her water broke when some of the cars were coming in. cue frantic father-to-be needing out when everyone was coming in 3/ professional photographer with L555BAT, N1WRC and the Legacy wouldnt let VBH and her 5th gear film crew take N1 WRC for filming, saying that the cars must stay where they are lol 4/ raffle tickets were in one of the last cars to leave Banbury and took 2 hours to arrive at Warwick 5/ forgot to put out the charity buckets at Warwick cos of the delay in getting everyone on site i think i managed to speak to some of you over the weekend, in between running around and listening to the walkie talkies Edited September 3, 2008 by micra_wrc

the squiggle Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Quite a weekend then Imy! I hope you've managed a wee bit of RnR since then. In a word Nope Phone still going like the clappers, at least this time i am not on the M6 with 1000 cars behind me Just lucky to have one of Colin's old race engineers popping in for a cuppa at the house of someone that was at the event with McRae range of clothing. Nice to touch to say that someone from Prodrive that worked on Colin's cars has also worked on the Bomber Thanks to everyone that came along and supported us from day one right up to the ones that pulled on a hi viz at Banbury and pulling off mission impossible getting an estimated 1500 cars into an Ind Est not designed for anywhere near that amount. The mission objective was to do Colin proud and in that respect it was mission accomplished Now for the serious bit. In the words of Bob Geldof at Live Aid.............."We need your f****** money" The buckets brought along for the purpose of collecting some change were overlooked in the 3285 other things i had to do and it was my fault that they were not put out. Please do me a favour and donate a couple of quid to the fund by clicking on the Donate button located on the left hand side of the main McRae Gathering website. It cost a fair bit to get the Guinness guy along on the day and to transport L555BAT down to Warwick so please just a pound or two thats all Only managed to get 2 pictures all weekend
